Event Was Under Auspices of Legion and LODE. ort Perry, Nov. 10--The annual Pha Service, under the Scugog Chapter of the LO.D.E, and Cana- dian Legion, which was held in the Port Perry United Church, Sunday, Nov. 9th, was largely attended. All denominations were well represented, Rev. 'E. E. Annand, of St. John's Presbyterian Church was the preach- sr for the occasion. He was assist- id by Rev. Wesley Elffott. Special nusic was given. Mr, and Mrs. Harry White, of Coldwater, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Densham. . The AY.P.A, of the Church of Ascension, held a Hallowe'en social sand masquerade in the Parish Hall, on Monday, November 3rd. Quite a pumber were in costume. The first prize was awarded Miss Sylvia Nind Dutch Boy; second prize, Donald Campbell-Turkish gently week the members of the AY. Pon - Uxbridge are to be the guests of the Port Perry Branch. Miss Beatrice Northey, of Toron- to, was the guest of Port Perry friends over the holiday. Mr. Glenn Collacutt of Little Cur- rent, Manitoulin, spent Thanksgiv~ ing with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Collacutt. The Y.P.S. of the Presbyterian Church entertained the Young Peo- ple of Ashburn, at a Hallowe'en So- cial on Monday, November 3d. A good program was given the young people from Ashburn contributing some of the numbers which were much enjoyed. The rest of the even- ing was spent in games, coftests, etc, making a very successful enter- tainment. Mr, H. Wimsett has been appoint- ed night watchman for Port Perry. The sympathy of the community is extended to Mrs. Curts and family and also to Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Stuart whose houses were destroyed by fire last week. Mr, and Mrs, M. James motored to Toronto on Monday. The Misses May and Dorothy Cockburn, of Toronto, were with Mr, J. C. Cockburn and family for the week-end. Miss M, Harridan, of Toronto, was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. A, I, Rose, over the holiday. Mrs. W. Bruce is visiting her son, Mr. A. Bruce of Seagrave, On Tuesday, November 25th, a play entitled "Safety First" is to be pre- sented by the young people of St. John's Presbyterian Church, in the Town Hall. The Misses Grace and Hilda Rose, of Toronto, were home for the week- end. BROUGHAM CHURCH PREPARED TO MARK ITS ANNIVERSARY Special Services To Be Held at St. John's on Sunday Brougham, Nov, 10. =~ St. John's congregation have completed arrangements for their anpiversary services next Sunday afternoon and evening. Rev. Mr, Fraser, of Dun. barton, will be the speaker for both services and special music will be provided by the Claremont United choir and quartette in the evening.
