Tracing a period of great activity among farm women, the four-times leader of the UF W.M, urged members to 'continue their work, "Let us be strong and pa- tient, each doing our best, and we will find someone worse off than our- | selves who needs us and our help, | The speaker summed up the 1930 crop year from the standpoint of the farmer ag follows: "The weather was ideal, the erop very fair and the re- sults most disappointing." Officials of the U.F.W.M, had join- ed many conferences of farm relief during the year. They had met with governments and bankers at a cone ference to discuss credit for farmers; with Premier John Bracken of Mani- toba to consider immediate relief for agriculture and with the board of di- rectors of the United Farmers of Manitoba to discuss creation of a debt adjustment bureau, While membership showed a slight decrease, Mrs. Gee-Curtis said the district conventions held showed a slight decrease, Mrs, Gee-Curtis said the district conventions held were very successful and the response to an appeal for funds to carry the or- ganization to the end of the year markable." L. Wasson had discovered the wrecked plane of Captain E. J. A. Burke and two companions, missing since Oct, 11 fn the headwaters of the Lalrd river in northern British Colum- bia, The reports, which arrived via Skagway, Alaska sald Wasson re- turned to White Horse, his head- quarters without further {nfor- mation because of shortage of gasoline. He reported the wreck- age indicated Burke and his com- panifons were forced down. Wasson said he would return as soon as poseible to within 15 miles of the wreckage and make his way to the plane by foot. Roughness of the country would prevent his landing near the plane, he sald, Wasson sald he zaw no sign of Burke or his companions. The wrecked plane was down in a most dangerous position, suggesting that Burke had been forced down rather than having made a volun- tary landing. The plane is frozen in a very narrow part of the river On his return, Wasson will land on a small lake about 15 miles from Burke's plane and accom- panied by Joe Walsh, an experi ehced woodsman, of Mayo, will rush to the wrecked plane. It is hoped a message will be found in the stranded plane, indicating what Burke and his companions did after they were forced down, The editor of the Sault Ste. Marie Star is going around in a wolf over- coat He has evidently heen re- sorting to slaughter in the effort to keep them from the door.--Brant- ford Expositor. | HARDWOOD FLOORS | Laid by expert mechanics, Old floors tinished like new.
