A. Heaps, Labor member of parliament for North Winnipeg. Mr. Heaps said steps would be taken secking incorporation of a clause in the Old Age Pensions Act that would supply the blind with pensions. Mrs. Jessle McLennan, socretary of the committee for the blind, stated little progress had beocn made in their efforts this year. Poverty and misery, she sald, was still the lot of the blind and un- less proper legislation was passed, they would become objects of charity. See bills, William Maw, Auctioneer, (36a) ATTENDANCE AT COLLEGE GROWS Rolls Augmented by 500 st Various Maritime Universities Halifax, N.S., Feb. 11, -- Youn men and women of the Maritime Provinces are attending college in increasing numbers, redent survey of registrations at the nine larg- est universities in the Atlantic pro- vinces showa that attendance has grown by more than five hundred in the last three years, this with- out reference to the Maritime stu- dents atending colleges in other sections of Canada and the Unit- ed States. The total attendance in. 1931 at the colleges covered by the sur- vey is 3,678, as compared With 3,019 in 1928. In that period the registraion of Dalhousie Uni- versity has grown from 823 to 969, that of Acadia University, Wolf- ville, N.8., has increased from 463 in 1927 to 510 this year, while Mount Alliston University at Sackville, N.B.,, third in size of Maritimo Institutions of higher learning, shows a student body in- creased from 397 to 484 in the last three years. Students at the University of New Brunswick; Fredericton, have increased from 268 to 370; at King's College, Halifax, from 76 to 110; at St. Francis Xavier, Antigonish, fron 250 to 276, at St. Joseph's Mem rancook, N.B.,, from 3859 to 411 and at Sacred Heart, Bathurst, N.
