At the decline, how ever, there appears to be a slightly steadier undertone, accompanied by a broader inquiry for cash eggs. At the same time there is little busi- ness being done, and it would seem that changes for the better are improbable. Fair earry-over of top grades of butter in conjunction with reasonably heavy receipts this morn- ing, brought about lower values on spot call. Strange to say, the re- verse took place in case of values of March futures, which opened %c¢ ihove yesterday's final sale, and later climbed for total gain of 7c. The Cape Argus says in part: : "A glow of satisfaction will be felt at the unveiling in this city of the Cape Province statue in honor of General Botha, Durban set the It ig not, ing that Cape Town has lagged be- hind, for the name of Botha is to- day even more revered by the ma- jority of the people of this city and province than it was at the time of his untimely death 12 years ago. If the voice of detraction is still heard, this is hardly surprising. Not the feast of the evils of the bitter racial controversies which for so many years poisoned the public life of Lis country was that they engen dered an unreasoning bigotry which is slow to disappear.' The outside world has never doubted for one moment Botha's enduring great- ness. 'It is only in the country of his birth, and among people of his own race, that there are to be found some who would treat his memory as scurvily as the enemies of Wash- ington treated the reputation of that great statesman in his own lifetme." The memorial is in the form of a huge bronze equestrian, figure, mounted on a lofty pedestal situat- ed in Stal Plein, one of the most his- toric parts of Cape Town, General Botha is depicted in the uniform of a commander-general of the Union Defence Force. 7 PLAY TO BE GIVEN IN, COLLEGIATE The play "So This is London," will be given in the Collegiate an« ditorium on Friday evening, March 27th at 8.15 p.m., under the aus pices of the North Simcoe Home and School Association.
