Walters, Do- minion Commissioner of Income Tax and former mayor of Hamil- ton, who has been missing since November 8, 1930, was found yes- terday afternoon in the Ottawa River near the Royal Cabadian Rounted Police barracks at Rock- cliffe. Welcomed Goodwill Tour Gananoque. -- The goodwill tour party composed of informa- tion hureau and moter club rep- resentatives from the Canadian and United States cities were en- tertained at a progressive dinner at the three jrocal hotels, They left for Brockville where they stay tonight and after a sight-see- ing tour through the Thousand Islands tomorrow, they proceed to Cornwall and Ottawa, Storm Caused Damage Campbellford. -- During severe electrical storm swept the district on Friday, the power line crossing the river here was struck by lightning. The pcles ignited and a transformer was blown out. The cross-arms of the poles were burnt before the fire could be put out. James McMullen of the Water and Light Commission, succeeded in puctmg cut the blasing poles and shut off the power. Part of the town was in darkness for several hours, the Lightning Caused Deah Burlington. -- Walking out of the barn to see that his son was al! right, T. Wilbert Shephard, of Appelby, was instantly killed dur- ing the fierce electrical storm which swept this district last night. Mr.. Sheperd was inside the farmhouse when the storm started and his son was working in the barn. As the storm grew more violent, the farmer became anxious for the young man's safety, and started from the back door towards the barn. He had not made many steps when a ter- rific bolt flashed from the clouds and struck him dead. Diverting Highway Brockville. -- Work has been begun on a diversion of King's Highway No. 15 between Perth and Port Elmsley which will elimihate what are known as Moore's and Flannerys cross- ings on the C.P.R. line. Altering Route Brockville. -- The line to feed Westport: with hydro electric power, will not run from Perth as originally contemplated, but will enter the village by way of Crosby. It is expected that light and power from hydro sources will be available in Westport hy October 1. Another line is to connect Rideau Ferry with Perth. Was Electrocuted Ottawa. -- Alexandre Marion, 44, an employee of the Gatineau Power Company and a resident of The Gardens, on the Aylmer line, was electrocuted at 2.48 o'clock yesterday afternoon when work- ing on the power company lines at Tenaga, Quebec. Six-Year-Old Killed Bellevill. -- Denis Powell; six- year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ow- an Powell, Chatham street, suc- cumbed to his injuries in Belle- ville Hospital today after being struck by a car driven by J. V. C. Truaisch, postmaster of this city, late yesterday afternoon. An inquest was called by Dr. R. W. Tennent, coroner and after nre- liminary evidence was taken, the hearing was adjourned for one week.
