Given the task of designing permanent camp buildings on the ireland, Mr. Cauchon conceived using Champlain's own drawings, particularly ap- propriate as Champlain was prob- ably the first white scout in this part of Canada. The Dominion archives yielded a picture of the exterior of the early buildings in Quebec and a search is being pro- secuted to locate descriptions of the interior fittings. ROYALS DROP TWO Montreal, Sept. 8.--The Roch- ester Red Wings took both games of a double-header here yesterday afternoon, 7 to 2 and 3 to 0. The Wings pulled a triple play in the sixth inning of the nightcap to erage the most promising rally the Royals made in either game. Starr cot credit for his seventeenth vie. tory of the season in the first game. Puccinelli hit his second homer in two days in the night- cap. The teams left for Rochester immediately after the second game, where a three-game series will start to-day. TIGERS BREAK EVEN Detroit, Sept. 8, -- The Tigers and the St. Louis Browns divided their Labor Day double-header vesterday, the Tigers taking the first contest, 3 to 2, but dropping the second, 11 to 7. The first game developed into a pitching duel between Detroit's veteran, George Uhle, and Coff- man of St, Louis, Uhle allowed eight seattered hits and then turn- ed about to contribute a homer to the Detroit side of the box score, Coffman yielded six safeties, The second game became a free-hitting contest, with the Browns getting the better of it. CARDINALS MAINTAIN LEAD Chicago, Sept. 8. -- The St. Louis Cardinals continued their march for an early settlement of the National League pennant championship here yesterday, when they won the second game of the holiday bill from the Cubs, | 8 to 3. The Cardinals' double triumpn, with their victory in the frst game, 1 to 0, dropped the Bruins down to fourth place in the stand- ing. Sweden's System of Combatting Cancer Praised by U.S. Doctor Rabat, Morocco, Sept, 4.--The young Sultan of Morocco came home to his palace and his 14 wives today after a tour of France. He was accompanied by his two-year-old son and heir, Moulay Ben Hassan. The inhabitants of Rabat lined the route to the palace and cheer- ed their ruler. The Sultan was esccrted by his famous Black Guard while desert horsemen circled the cavalcade and fired their rifles into the air in wel- come. His Sherifian Highness brought back thousands of presents to be given to his favorites in the pal- ace. For himself he brought a miniature five horse power I'rench automobile and a gorge- ous pair of silk pajamas, the only arcicle of European clothing he allows himself to wear. The Sultan dislikes motoring, preferring to canter out into the desert on an Arab steed, but he has decided to erect a miniature autodrome in the secluded palace gardens where he can drive his tiny motorcar. H. Ross, (Canadian 'I'rade Commissioner to Australia at a lunchcon given on the occasion of the departure of the "good-will ship" to Canada. The vessel, Canadian Construc- tor of the Canadian Government Merchant Marine, sailed for Mon- treal with a sample shipment of of Nations, | products of the Commonwecalth. The departure of the vessel marked the | putting into force of the recent.y izned Australian-Canadian trade treaty. "Climatic conditions of Australia and Canada so aptly and opportune ly supplement 'each other that in overcoming the difficulty of distance by improved methods of transit, the main obstacle to the consummation of preferential trade was swept away," Mr. Ross said. He conclud- ed by stating that by fair dealin: and honorable reciprocity of trad obligations, the prosperity of. trad between the Sister Dominions would be assured, and should follow as easily and naturally as the night follows the day. "The new agreement marked a distinct advance in Dominion recip- | rocal trade relations and constituted an important move towards the at- tainment of economic unity between | our own family group of nations," | declared Hon. Parker Maloney, Au- stralian Minister of Markets, in re- |. A wide field for expan- | sponding. sion of trade had heen opened up minions to items outside of those mentioned in the agreement." Mr. Moloney said he felt that 'closer commercial interests be- tween component parts of our Com- monwealth of Nations had been too long delayed and the day was not far distant when it would become an accepted fact. The economic conditions of all parts of the Em- pire demand that it should be done and done quickly." Prime Minister James Scullin warmly supported Mr, Moloney in SAVE TONEY?
