Scarcity of nuts this year has probably caused a migration of squirrels, Plan Poultry Show Kingston.--The Kingston Poultry Association held its first meeting of the fall season on Tuesday night when the initial steps were taken to arrange for the annual show to be held by the association in De- cember, The president, Robert Downey, presided at the meeting, and there was a large attendance of the members. Coleman, teacher at the Ontar- fo School for the Deaf for 45 years until superanuated a few years 'ago, died at his home here on Thursday. He was born in Washington, D.C., in 1840, the son of the late Danijel Coleman, former assistant Postmaster-Gen. eral at Washington, and served four years in the Confederate Army during the Civil War, He came to Belleville in 1870 at the opening of the Ontario School for the Deaf, Heard Famous Band Perth.--Perth was one of the favored few places given an op- portunity to hear the world fam- ous St. Hilda's band. The band played two programs at the Perth Arena one in the afternoon and the other at night when some 800 citizens of Perth and district and surrounding towns were thrilled listening to the richly varied and colorful program of 12 numbers rendered by the band. It was through the initiative of Geo. B. James, manager of the Perth Arena, that the band was brought to Perth. AUTHOR IN BRITAIN GETS PRISON TERM Wrote Unauthorized , Biographies of Prince London. -- Netley Lucas, alias Evelyn Graham, author of biogra- phies of numerous royal person- ages, including the Prince of Wales has been sentenced at Old Bailey to 18 . months' imprison ment with hard labor. The jury returned a verdict of guilty with- out leaving the box. Lucas was charged with obtaining about $1,- 200 by false pretences from a lit- erary agent and also with at- tempting to obtain about $250 from Weldon's Ladies Journal for publication of 2 life of Queen Alexandra, alleged to have been written by Lady Angela Stanley, former Lady-in-Waiting to Queen Alexandra. It was stated by police Lucas was sentenced to ten months' im- prisonment for theft and forgery in 1923, ang also convicted in To- ronto, in 1924 for conspiracy to defraud and running a bogus em- ployment agency, for which he was sentenced to 30 days' impris- onment and deported. At the trial recently in support of his claim regarding the author- ship of the life of Queen Alexan- dra, Lucas produced a letter stat- ed to have been written by Lord Stamfordbam, His Majesty's late private secretary, expressing ap- preciation of the book. The Crown suggested the "Stanley" to whom the letter was addressed 'was a mythical person and the let- ter false. Lucas declared he had met the woman whom he believed to be Lady Stanley who supplied him with the "Life of Queen Alex- andra' which he extended and assistéd in publishing. Most of the biographies written by Lucas including those of the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Connaught, were unauthorized, the police said. It was also al- leged Lucas had defrauded other publishers and newspapers of about $10,000 in connection with the "Life of the Earl of Lons- dale" which wag later repudiated, DARN THAT CLOCK!
