Apart from the educa- tional work it promotes and de- velops, which after all is the main objective for its existence, the Fair provides work and revenue far in excess of what it has ever given credit for. In the past four years through the medium of its exhibition, the South Ontario Agricultural Society has paid, for labor upwards of $2- 400 for hydro power, $735 for elec trical services about $560.00, for lumber and other material, nearly $750, for printing and advertising, $1,400 for postage, $275 for insur- ance, $440, and to cover other in- cidental expenses at least another $1500.00 could safely be added. Worthy of special mention it might also be said that many hundreds of dollars have been left with the hotels and restaurants for meals and room accommodation, by exhibitors, | spectators and others, this revenue in turn bringing that much more busimess to our merchants. Henning The public relations department | yy, 1 gq opife of the Air Force, to which an in-| yop 0 1 "Martin quiry was directed by The Times last week, informed this publica- tion that the work at the airport had not reached the stage where tenders would be called for the erection of buildings which would house the air recruits and per- sonnel of the training staff. In- quiries as to the location of these buildings on the site brought lit- tle light. It is expected, however, that they will be along one of the boundaries of the airport. The councils of Oshawa and East Whit- by Township have already been considering the building and main- taining of a good road to the air- port. There is the possiblity that the Public Utilities Commission may be asked to furnish water sup- ply as well as hydro lines to the airport. : Thousands Visit Site Thousands of people have been visiting the airport site during the past three Sundays, Mr. McQuigge told The Times. He thought pes- sibly that they would close Stev- enson's road at the south and north end to prevent so many cars com- ing on the area as the workmen were afraid of accidents. The road will eventually closed and once the airport is in operation visitors will be admitted only on the pre- sentation of a pass, as is the case at other training centres.
