The clash between these two clubs up in St. Kitts on Friday night was a real hockey tid-bit and we have every reason to believe that tonight's return engage- ment will be worth watching. + bb We're not trying to say that Osh- awa should have won up in St. Catharines but if they had copped the decision, the Saints couldn't have felt deprived for the GM-Men got only tough breaks. It was a very clean game, only: three pen- alties, and the two teams battled evenly most of the time and with little show of superiority. do + ob Don Daniels slapped the puck into his owa net for the first goal of the game and the puck caromed off George Ritchie's skate past McQueston for the last goal of the game. These two tallies, even the most biased St. Catharines' fans will have to admit, were of the "gift" variety and had a big bearing on the result. Then agaiu, Re- gina Tisdale went right through pulled Ran Forder out of posi- tion and then missed the open net. This happened fa the sec- ond period and a goal at that stage, more than likely, would have meant an Oshawa victory. * + * Johnny Thompson got another bang in the mouth on Friday night. Hit by a flying puck, a cut in his upper lip required four stitches--a painful business, but Johnny re- turned to action in the next period. He and his line-mates, Ebby Edmi- son and Carr-Harris, were the pick of the Oshawa attackers on Friday night. This line is playing smart hockey right now, * + St. Kitts have a crack line In Rossini, Hastie and Heximer. It was one of the speediest ex- | hibitions of hockey seen in the old | arena since the O.H.A. season got under way, and, to tell the story in a few short words, it was a tussle between two outstanding goalies. Mortimer in the 'nets for the Pow- ers clan stopped shots that were unbelievable, while Jack Eley, the | former Brandon, Man. boy looked like a world-beater at all times. Ban- nerman of Calgary, president of the Canadian Rugby Union, said here Friday that he hoped an East- West exhibition football game would be staged in Toronto, Satur- day, Dec. 7, despite the fact his organization by a telegraphic vote had refused to give official sanc- tion to the venture. After much deliberation, Western Canada offi- cals last spring had decided against discarding their own code. In announcing the decision of his CRU. executive, most of them Eastern Canada residents, Mr, Ban- nerman said a minority opinion expressed the hope that some way could be found to offer an East- West exhibition for the Sports Service League and other worthy causes that would benefit.
