Brown, Correspondent) BROUGHAM, Ont., Dec. 23--The annual entertainment and Christ- mas tree for the Sunday School was held Thursday evening, the 19th, and was a splendid success. Rev, Kennedy occupied the chair in his usual happy manner. The children trained by Mrs, John Knox, assisted by Mrs. J. White, gave a very fine program consisting of recitations by the tiny tots, drills, exercises, pan- tomine, songs and duets by older scholars of the school. The play "Scrooge's CHsistmas," had a num- ber of very clever young artists tak- ing part, Gilbert Wanup making a realistic "Scrooge" and Florence McWhirter was "Tiny Tim" The school chorus with Ethel Seebeck at plano gave a fine demonstration of the benefit of having musical in- struction in the public school. The short play, "A Depot Romance", by the following, Hugh Miller, Grant Johnston, Allan Ellicot, Annie Bayles and Helen Malcolm, was well presented. After the singing of "There'll Always Be An England" by the children, the evening closed with the National Anthem. The Jingle of bells announced the com- ing of Santa Claus and a tired, hap- Py crowd of children went home well satisfied. Many Attend Services Christmas services on Sunday were well attended with Rev. J. E. Kennedy choosing the story -of the birth of Christ, in Luke 2nd chapter.
