ROUTLEY Correspondent Ashburn, May 14--The regular monthly meeting of the Women's Missionary Society was held in the church basement on Wed. May 7, at 8 pm. with the president Mrs. Gordon Fisher occupying the choir. The meeting opened with the sing- ing of the Doxology following which an explanation was given of "Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven" as repeated in the Lord's prayer. Mrs. Stredwick read the Scripture lesson and Mrs. G. Fisher led in prayer. After the singing of "Rise Up O Men of God," the minutes of the last meeting were read and ap- proved. at Port Perry, at which Miss Wil- liamson was the guest speaker, was also given. Mrs. R. Luaney kindly offered her home and Mrs. M. An- derson consented to take the study book for the June meeting. Mrs. E. Heron gave an interesting synopsis on a chapter of the study book "Ministering and Healing in India." The Young People's Society met in the basement of Burn's church on Friday, May 9 at 8 p.m. with the president Mr. Hugh Knight occupy- ing the chair, The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Messrs. Douglas Ashton, Theodore Knight and Neill Johnston were appointed as the program committee for the next meeting. Miss Ruth Richard son, worship convenor, then took charge of the meeting and chose for her theme "Temperance." Miss Catherine Fisher read the scripture lesson taken from II Peter chapter 1, verses 1-16. A poem "Called a Christian" was read by Douglas Ashton. An interesting story "A Narrow * | Escape" was read by Ruth Richard- son after which several members gave verses of scripture on temper- ance. James Childs read a poem entitled "Myself" and hymn 30 "My | Faith Looks Up to Thee" was sung. Miss Fern Stephen read a true story of "A Little African Girl" which told how a little girl in Af- rica was the means of building up a whole Christian community. Miss Joan Hill then took charge of the fellowship period and a game of "Musical Chairs" was enjoyed by all. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Purdy of Toronto spent the weekend at the home of Miss A. Dowson.
