The horrible results of shock, malnutrition and injuries resulting from war, on the chikiren of those unfortunate nations, as recorded by the camera, are ghastly beyond de- scription, War is a catastrophe for adults, but it is the little children, moulded in the midst of it who feel it worst of all. To Raise Funds Prior to the showing of the pic- ture, Mrs, E. A, Mounce, on behalf of Canadian Federation of Home and School Associations, requested the support of every Home and School Association, in the drive be- ing held February 9 to 28 to raise funds to rehabilitate educa- tion in the countries devastated by World War II. Penclls, paper, blackboards, scienitfic equipment-- everything along this line is needed for this reconstruction through UNESCO, (United Nations Educa- tional, Scientific and Cultural Or- ganization.) To this end a community carni- val for the adults is being planned for Friday, January 30. By an un- foreseen, but hap) co-incidence, this film, "Seeds of Destiny" illus- trated the appeal, and all parents present, fathers especially, were moved by a desire to put heart and soul into this effort to help make the campaign a success. The second film shown by Mr. Sharples was much lighter in con- tent, attractive to the eye as well as interesting. It showed the mar- vellous rhythmic precision of the physical exercises~in which the people of Sweden delight. They lay Mr. Jim Anderson, Mr. Cliff Crow- ell, Mr. Fred C. Letter of Thanks Last year, several large parcels of clothing were sent to Scotland to the district in which Miss Jean McLeod, teacher on exchange from Scotland taught, The following is part of the letter of appreciation received from the head-mistress of the school: Follcross School, Ponton Street, Edinburgh, 16 Dec., 1047 Dear Madam: I should like to thank you most sincerely for the bundle of clothes you so generously sent for distribu- tion among our children, many of whom are greatly in need of warm garments, Parents have great dif- ficulty in making the meagre al- lowance of clothing coupons last over the required period; so your contribution will halp many of them. My teachers and myself are very grateful to you for your kind thought and all the trouble you have taken to ensure the safe de- livery of all the clothes. In spite of hard times there is little grumbling. We realize as our Scots forebears did before us, that the best way to overcome trouble is "to put a stout hert to a stey brae." Do you know the meaning of this, "Wha tholes, wins"? That is what we are doing, so maybe, at not such a distant date the ancient Scottish toast can once again be given, Meanwhile the loving "thoughts and practical help of your assocla- tion have gladdened our hearts at this season of goodwill, With best wishes, Yours sincerely, Elizabeth Sdott, makes you NERVOUS G on such days?
