The fol- lowing address was read by Kay Prentice. Scugog, June 25, 1948. To Mr, and Mrs. Roy Collins, Scugog. Dear Betty and Roy: We have gathered here this evening to hon- our you on the occasion of your re- cent marriage and to offer our congratulations and best wishes on this happy event. Betty, you are well-known here on the island for it was here you have spent half of. your years, and at- tended school. "We always have fodn recollections of the place we spent our school days. We treasure the happy associations we had in those carefree days. Many here, no doubt, were your school pals. Since then you have joined in our social life. We remember with admiration your kindness and thoughtfulness towards your father and younger brothers when you took upon your- self, along with your sister, the care of your home at an early age. Roy, you have spent all of your years here until just recently. Like Betty, you will always have memor- ies of the island as all of your school days have been spent here. Later, you joined the armed forces. 'We are proud of the stand you took in serving us here. In contrast to some of our young couples we have honoured of late, you both have grown in our midst. Now you have reached another milestone in your lives. We are sorry that you will be living elsewhere, but we hope you will join us on many occasions. As a small token of our friend- ship and good will, we ask you to accept these gifts. We all join in wishing you both happiness and prosperity as you travel down life's pathway together. Your Friends of Scugog. Gloria Fralick and Viola Brown then brought in a child's wagon full of parcels to be unwrapped by the bride and groom. They then thank- ed all for the lovely gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Collins will re- side in Oshawa where the best wishes will follow them. Schosls are closed again for a couple of months. We hope the tea- chers and pupils will have happy holidays.
