Willing Workers Plan For Picnic MRS. KENNETH FLETCHER Correspondent Harmony, July 6--Keep in mind the Willing Workers' picnic to be held this coming Wednesday after- noon at the school. A committee composed of Mrs. Harold Winter and Mrs. Don Har- ris have worked hard to arrange an interesting program of races etc., so ladies, pack that lunch hamper, bring the children and come along and have fun with your neighbors and friends. Time 230 pm. (or be- fore if you wish), place, school grounds, Mrs. Frank Fleury and young son, Garry, have returned to their home in Leaside after spending the past two weeks at the home of her sis- ter, Mrs. R. J. Luke, and visiting with other relatives here. . We wish 'the very best of luck and speedy recovery to Albert Rae who underwent an, operation in the Oshawa Hospital on Monday. Residents on Harmony Road are looking forward very much to the time when chemicals as put on the road to help lay the dust. This aw- ful film of dust which covers every- thing inside and outside of the houses, is very unpleasant and tends to rob us al] of much of our living outdoors pleasure. We know that we are to have this done, but when, is what everyone is asking. Several residents coated areas immediately in front of their homes, with oil, only to have it car- ried away when the road scraper passéd up and down a few days la- ter. With the increased traffic on Harmony Road South, some of which exceeds normal driving speed, choking clouds of dust are so great that at times visibility.{is nil, This is actually true, and much concern is being felt by people with small children, lest some child be killed or badly hurt while crossing the road. A petition to curb this thoughtless and unnecessary prac- tice of speeding has been circulated among the people and will be pre- sented to the council. Our fervent hope is that something will be done to enforce slower driving, and also to provide us with some effectual means of laying dust. Glad to report that little Marlene Martin who had tonsils and ade- noids removed on Monday, is get- ting along nicely. Bruce Martin has returned home after visiting with cousins John and Gordie Found, Pickering. We are in receipt of a card from Mrs. Walter Beoch, who, with her husband and son Walter, are enjoy- ing. a visit in England, visiting in Rochdale, Lancashire. They write that they found everything fine at home, are having a wonderful time renewing acquaintance with their relatives, and while at Ascot, saw members of the Royal Family quite close. We were reminded of another party visiting friends in the old country, this time in Ireland, in the persons of Mrs. Cyril] Roser and Kathleen, who left here a short while ago to spend the summer there visiting relatives. We hope they had a safe and enjoyable crossing and that they are having a wonderful time. Times-Gazette classified ads pay-- Why not try one today? Molson told the Commons the gift was seized by the Ministry of Food and non-perishable food was offered instead. Dr, Edith Summerskill, Food Min. istry spokesman, replied that the New Zealand donors had been ad- vised in advance of the 'action which was normal practice. The donors had agreed tc substiution of non-perishable food for the meat and it was presumed they agreed to the Ministry using its discretion in the distribution of the meat, ENLARGEMENTS Improve Your Snapshots THIS WEEK'S ISPECIAL Your Favorite Snapshot Enlarged To Size 6x8" in * ARENA FOLDER Colored, 55¢c Extra 4 Portrait Orange Flower Dr. Wests Miracle Tuft "EXTO ¥ BRAND BRISTLING WATER - PROOFED SURGICALLY STERILE Face Powder ... 1.25 Skin Lotion .... : Summer oliday a Max Factor Face Powder ..
