THURSDAY, JULY 15, 1948 THE DAILY TIMES-GAZETTE PAGE SEVENTEEN Tree Thinnings Sent to Thorold Toronot, July 15 -- (CP) -- Six carloads of tree htinnings from Vivian Forest, a reforestation proj- ect in York County, Wednesday were shipped to the Ontario Paper Company mills at Thorold. The trees, "weedings" of several thou- sands planted in 1926, are young trees which have to be moved to give the rest of 1,200 trees-per-acre a chance to reach maturity. The reforestation project covers 3,300 acres, administered to under a committee of the York County Council. The trees, consisting mostly of both white and Scotch _pine, show only a small percentage of loss. District Forester John Simmonds said there is every possibility of "putting the thing on a sound eco- nomié basis." He said it would be an example of how trees can be made to pay. just as other crops. And the plane would carry just enough gas to get them there and no farther. Customs officials released the plane yesterday after imposing a $100 fine for illegal entry into Can- ada, Just before htat the nine men, believed to have been headed for Palestine when they were forced down at neighboring Dartmouth Sunday, apparently attempted to take off. While police widened the scope of their investigations in search of new clues; officials pointed out that the bodyf might have remained hidden for years if two floor joists had been replaced. Body of the six-foot, heavily-built teamster was found hidden last Saturday under the bedroom floor of a five-room cottage in North- west Calgary. Examination of a weak spot in the floor by a new owner of the building led to the discovery. The floor had been weak. ened through removal of two sec- tions of joists' to allow entry of the body. Fred E, Hall of Cadillac, Que, identified the body yesterday as that of his father, He made the identifi- cation without hesitation although he last saw his father, in Calgary about 1923. Eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Hall, he parted with his father when his parents separated in 1923. It is believed Mrs, Camilla Rose Hall, who has been separated from her husband since 1923, will not be asked to 'identify the body. Mrs. Hall, a pleasant elderly woman with dark brown hair, flew (ere volun- tarily to be interviewed by police immediately she learned of the dis- covery of her husband's body. She now is working as a housekeeper for a Vancouver family. An autopsy of the body is expect- | ed to be performed today. Police | said they hoped the autopsy would | reveal the cause of two holes found | in the head of the dead man. One | is 'a jdgged hole through the left | flying fortress to prevent it taxiing to the runway. It was probable that an R.C.A.F. aircraft would accompany the B-17 today at least part of the way to Westchester, There were reports American customs men might seize the plane when it got their. The aircraft had not carried any clearance papers when it left the USS. although it was registered as a commercial plane, The men claimed they were on a routine navigational training flight when they were forced down. For . this reason, said Pilot I. R. Schind- ler of Miami, Fla. they did not need clearance papers. But recurrent reports had it that the plane had been headed for Palestine and that the nine men were to join Hagana Army. The case got to the External Af- fairs Department in Ottawa and to the State Department in Wash- ington. It was finally decided to release the plane and that it would have to return to the U.S. Doctor Says (Continued from Page 7) vein several times a day. Special nursing care is important in order to prevent infection of the skin and the development of bed-sores. There are various substances which are used in many cases of kidney disorders which stimulate kidney action and the elimination of fluids. However, these substances are not utilized in the treatment of nephrosis in most cases, Just recently, however, some phy- sicians have utilized a product which can be injected into a vein. This substance, known as concen- trated serum albumin, will very ef- fectively eliminate a great deal of the fluid that has accumulated in the body cells. Its only drawback is that there isn't too much of it available and the price is very high. And, too, it must be remembered that it is not a cure, but a good temporary relief-obtaining sub- stance.
