Oshawa Fair has doffed its swaddling clothes and has now stepped into the ring of big-time Fairs . , . this year a four-day event. The people of Ontario county, particularly, will again show their patriotism to. the agricultural community of this county by attending Oshawa Fair on hod 15, 16, 17 and 18, and view the products of the farm and factory. We have every reason to be proud of this grand old county and we will have more reason to feel proud when we see the results of the year's activities exhibited at Oshawa Fair. GIGANTIC MIDWAY No Oshawa Fair would be complete without its usual Midway . yi this year the Fair Board has left nothing undone in securing Midwhé attractions for the thousands of customers who will pass through the ates. There will be booths, rides, and a score or more of attractions or those who like the fun and frivolity that goes with Midways. GRANDSTAND PERFORMANCES There will be two-hour shows featuring the finest acts available, some of them direct from the C.N.E., each night, commencing Thursday night. A full listing of the grandstand programme will be publicized at a later date. However, according to Dr. W. H. Gifford, Chairman of the programme, the show, this year, will top all previous grandstand performances. OSHAWA PROGRAM | WEDNESDAY -- Prep- aration Day. THURSDAY -- Youth Day. Judging of Beef Cattle, Jr. Farmer's Exhibits, Fruits, Flow- ers, Handicrafts, Can- ned Fruits, Baking, Art, also special child- ren's events in the af- ternoon including Po- ny Races, Clowns, etc. FRIDAY -- Judging of heavy & light Horses, Dairy Cattle, Sheep. SATURDAY -- Judging of heavy ana light Horses, also Regional Swine Show. Grand Midway in opera- tion from noon to mid- night Wed., Thurs., Fri, Sat. Mammoth: Grandstand Show, Thurs., Fri.,, and Sat. Evenings, at 8 p.m. Thrilling Wild Animal Acts, Etc Admission to Grand- stand: Adults 35¢ - Children 10c Admission to Grounds: Adults 35c¢ - Children 10c Automobiles 25¢ Come to OSHAWA FAIR SEPTEMBER v LIGHT HORSES In this class there will be a large entry of ponies, to- gether with light horses of various descriptions, truly an item on the programme worth seeing, HEAVY HORSES Oshawa Fair has long been known for its exhibit of heavy horses. Clydesdale, Percherons, of both heavy:: and light class will be exhibited again this year. There are many special prizes offered which will attract a large exhibit. DAIRY CATTLE Ontario county is one of the best known counties for sairy cattle in Ontario and visitors to the Oshawa Fair can look forward to seeing an excellent display of dairy cattle. SHORTHORN CATTLE In this section of the Province there are many farms which contribute greatly to the developmen: of pure bred cattle. Along with a magnificent Shorthorn dis- play thore will be other exhibits of eae which will be of great interest. SHEEP EXHIBIT Yes, the sheep display this year will not be outdone by any entry of previous years. Already several prominent farmers have arranged to show their sheep at Oshawa Fair, SWINE EXHIBIT Those interested in swine exhibits shoul. nc' pass up this listing, for the Fair this year will ; jbally have the best swine exhibit that it has ever had .. . the Di~ tors expect that this exhibit will be among the top is Jmportance when the curtain 'goes up on the 1948 alr, / Agriculture, Horticulture In the agriculture and horticulture division the 1948 Fair will rank high with previous Fairz in the exhibits in this department. Manager Webber reports that there s every likelihood that the 1948 show will be the best ever. FLORICULTURE 'The flower shows at the Oshawa Fair have attracted thousands of flower lovers for years. The Directors realize the importance of this department and have left no stone unturned .n developing this feature at the Fair, "e TRIALS OF SPEED There will be four races daily, on Friday and Saturday, and the purses total $1,000, a handsome amount for a Fair such as the Oshawa Fair. In fact this year the Art exhibit is expected to outclass previous exhibits. oe WOMEN'S DISPLAYS Women have always played a prominent part in Osh- awa Fairs and this year the lady Directors on the Board have excelled themselves in the arrangement of women's displays. oe CANNED FRUIT AND HOME COOKING Your eyes will bulge with envy when you see the canned fruit anl home cooking display put on by the 1-omen at the women's booth this year.
