Loud cheers and clapping from the overcrowded courtroom drowned out the discharge address of Mr. Justice John Doull after the verdict. The jury déliberated two hours and four minutes. Robart was charged with dragging Mrs. MacDonald from a Water Street house where she had been sleeping, and beating her to death.
