That is a question which has been asked quie frequently since the building of scores of homes under this plan was undertaken in Oshawa. According to information received from the Schofield Insurance Agency, which has been closely as- sociated with the integrated build- ing plan in this city, the general outline of the plan is as follows: The plan was developed to in- terest builders in building a large number of good homes for sale at the lowest possible figure. By building a large number of homes at onge, the builder saves money on construction cost, which, in turn, saves the buyer money. Because the builder agrees to sell at a price set by the government, the government agrees to give the builder a priority for buying build- ing materials. The National Housing Act mort- gage money is paid out to the builder as he progresses with his work, on condition that the builder conforms to the rigid specifications of the Act as to quality of work- manship and material. Before the builder can start work under this plan he must submit a satisfactory land plan to the Land Planning Department. This assures good lot sizes and a pleasing arrangement of the houses on the lots. The integrated plan is designed primarily te give veterans of World War: IT the first option to buy the hemes. Sales will be made to other than veterans as soon as their re- quirements have been satisfied. Ag' td the type of construction used in building these homes, the following information is supplied: Al "homes: are built to. National Housing. Act standards, which in- sures "strength, . permanence and good design. Concrete basements are used, with concrete floors and special footings under the seven foot Walls and supporting columns. Bathrooms have three pieces with built-in type baths and medicine cabipiets are installed. All'homes have at least one large clothes closet off each bedroom, and at least one linen closet near the bethroom. There is also a closet for outdoor things in the vestibule. All homes have at least two bedrooms, ard some models have more, de- ponding on the size of the house. Iiv'n> rooms are large with plenty of 'ight area.
