Several had | been emcees at parties. One had studied drama at the | Royal Academy in London. That was the way various quali- fications shaped up last week when two hundred students at the Uni- | versity of Toronto filled out ques- tionnaires that listed their experi- ences in radio. But among these two hundred who were interested in radio and whose problem was to get radio of drama and discussions, and also several musical programs. The first two broadcasts in the series will be a two-part adapta- tion of Morley Callaghan's latest novel about university life, "The Varsity Story," which gives the ser- {ies its name. Oscar Halina and | Ronald Bryden -have prepared this | script, and the cast will also be made up of students. The recent rebellion in the ranks |of Toronto high school students against a performancg of Shake- speare's: Macbeth, will be spotlight- ed in the first discussien program in the series, to be heard November 25th. One question will be whether the catcalls that greeted the Bard ing of his plays. A student and staff panel will meet to discuss the subject of "English as it Ought To Be Taught." Later discussion topics include "What's Become of Conver- | sation?," "The University Student | Looks At God" and "Ivy Walls, Iv- | {ory Towers and Snake dance," "The | | University and The Comniunity."
