Stuart's Mother Back In Canada Halifax, Nov. 18 -- (CP) -- Mrs, John Stuart, 57, hurrying from England to aid her son William, charged in Kitchener with public mischief, eluded reporters after her arrival here Wednesday on the vet- eran liner Aquitania. Mrs. Stuart could not be found in her cabin and failed to answer calls over the Aquitania's public address system. A roommate said Mrs. Stuart told her she would leave Halifax on the first train available after she cleared customs. She was reported to have passed through customs shortly before noon Wed- nesday. Railway officials said Mrs. Stuart probably left Halifax at 3:10 p.m. of 4:30 pm. AST on a Montreal train. A Canadian citizen, Mrs. Stuart is bound for Galt, Ont., where her husband lives. She had been visiting in England. The public mischief charge was laid against her son in connection with the disappearance last Sept. 13 of Mrs. Emma Pohl, 37-year-old housewife. Mrs. Pohl's decomposed body was found near Plattsville, Ont.,, Oct. 25. Mrs. Stuart told friends in London two weeks ago she had what she believed was "vital" evidence in the case. Police who questioned William Stuart quoted him as, saying he met Conductor Ever since the early days of radio in Canada the name of Geoffrey Waddington, above, has been syn- onymous with music. But they don't any more, at least not as long as the power shortage is with us. On November 11th, CBL and CJBC cut their daily broad- casting activities by one hour. CBL, which normally broadcasts from 6 a.m. until midnight, set forward the beginning of its day to 7 a.m., and CJBC began signing off at mid- night instead of transmitting from 7 am. through to 1 am. During the day, however, CBL and CJBC are not expected to be affected by power cut-offs. CBC Toronto has its own emergency generating equipment which sup- plies power during these periods.
