There were 26 guests. The CGIT had charge of the en- tertainment and conducted several contests and games. The prizes for the evening were won by Nancy Wi and Joe McGill with highest scores, Ruth Lamb' and Ted Yeo with low scores. Lunch was served. Ronald Ashton on behalf of TUC Boys expressed the appreciation to the CGIT and the hostess. The party closed with a sing-song with Elenor Heard at the piano. A statement issued after a two- day meeting also said the commit- tee called for higher wages for ap- prentices among other measures for improving the flow of skilled tradesmen into industry. The scripture, read by Mrs. Pascoe, was taken from 1st Corinthians, 13th chapter. The story read by Mrs. Slute was "Love". The reports were heard and adopted, and the offering taken. Several items were handed in, in preparation for the bazaar. Plans were made to make two quilts. A donation of $50 is to be made to Port Perry hospital. There was a short program after. which a dainty lunch was served by the hostess and committee in charge. The May meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Roy Notting- ham. EUCHRE PARTY HELD There was a good crowd at the recreation euchre last Friday night. Twelve tables of cards were played, prizes being won by Mrs. L. Mahaffy, Mrs. H. Thomp- son, Oliver Lane and Albert Slute. There will be another euchre this Friday night, April 24. Ronnie Davidson entertained a number of little girls and boys on his birthday which was Tuesday. The afternoon was spent playing games. Ronnie thanked all for their gifts. A dainty birthday supper was enjoyed by all. Mr. and Mrs. A. Fish Industry Worries Over Pork Stockpile OTTAWA (CP)--Canada's state- controlled canned pork business is interfering with free-enterprise fish sales, a Senate trade committee was told Thursday. If the government wants to help the fishing industry, it should "get out of canned pork," said H. W. Welch of Air Haven, N.B., a direc- or of the Fisheries Council of Can- ada. The question of the government's huge pork stockpile emerged as the committee discussed the fac- tors that relate to Canadian fish sales to North Atlantic countries. The council executive told the committee also that the industry is deeply concerned over possible increased import restrictions by the United States against Cana- dian fish. CNE BOOSTS AWARDS TORONTO (CP)--Canadian Na- tional Exhibition prize money for agricultural sections this year will be more than $100,000. Sam Foster, the fair's agricultural superinten- dent, said Thursday this amount is higher than last year's total awards and should help agricul- tural exhibitors meet increased costs.
