#4 THE DAILY TIMES-GAZETTE, Thursday, July 16, 1058 Oshawa And Weston Trade Their Bands For Concerts WESTON -- District residents are to be honored with an ex- ceptionally 'ine musical program presented by the Oshawa Civic and Regimental Band when they appear as featured guests at the Town Park, Little ave., this Sun- day July 19th. The concert presented by the band should prove of interest to all and should . please young and old alike in its varinty. The Osh- awa group, taking the place of the Weston Silver Band, is paying a turn-about visit to Weston as the town band is scheduled to ap- pear at Oshawa tonight. The Oshawa group is one of the few brass bands left in Canada, and under the direction of Jack Broadbent, who was bandmaster Io Navy bands during the war, is rated as a top calibre band. |y Chairman for the evening will be MacIntyre Hood, managing editor of the Times-Gazette of Oshawa. A featured\ artist on this week's program will be Mel Smith, Do- minion Champion Harmonica and Hand Saw virtuoso. This artist, in great demand, is sure to amaze the audience with skill. As well as the regular band numbers the program will fea- tute a cornet duet and euphonium solo. So remember the time and date folks -- Sunday evening at 8:30 at the Bandshell, Town Park.
