They have played their part . . . it is now for us to carry on, to care for those who came back, unable to re-establish themselves in civilian life. For these brave souls, the least we can do is to show we do care by buying . . . and wear- ing A POPPY . . . Give generously when you buy your poppy . . . to help and cheer those veteran warriors who have given so much, that we might be free. The blood red poppy is immortalized as an emblem of sacrifice and remembrance for the honoring of the thousands who fell in foreign lands, laying down their lives for those things which we as Canadians cherish. It calls upon us to remember not only those who died, but those who still suffer from honorable wounds and dis- ability. It challenges us to serve in peace as in war, to help those who need our help; to protect those who need our protection, Poppies are made by veterans who are unable to earn a livelihood by other means. Vetcraft Shops are situated in the larger cities across Canada. Their handicraft is sold by the Canadian Legion branches across Canada on Poppy Day as an act of Remembrance.
