For months back in the fall a man who worked in the industrial park com- plex off Regional Road 8 had been feeding a stray dog some scraps of his lunch. At first she ap- peared to be timid but over time she trusted him enough to eat out of his hand. This relationship went on for a number of months, but suddenly the dog disappeared and he hadn't seen her since Christmas. On Jan. 9 while out for lunch, the man came across the dog again, skin- ny looking and very hun- gry. He purchased some warm food from the lunch truck to feed the dog and while she was eating, out LE of the brush nearby, scam- pered four pups, approxi- mately six-weeks-old. An animal control offi- cer said the dog must have trusted the man enough to know that neither she nor her pups were in danger and in fact would be fed by this man. She says the mother and the pups are in good shape other than the fact that the mother is ex- tremely skinny and with no more milk. The mother is a Husky- cross. The age has not been determined. There are four puppies, three fe- males and one male. If you are interested in adopting these pets either individually or as a family please contact the Scugog/ Uxbridge Animal centre at 985-9547. o 's Community Spape [ Sn Nursing Home prepares for busy season 'and do a little bit of bak- ing. In the evening we held a discussion group of New Year's resolutions. The following day we had to offer bingo, flower ar- ranging and bazaar plan- ning. We started another great week with a winter quiz, then headed into a discussion of "looking over "91" and reminisced over the events that happened in the last year. The day ended with a Super Bingo. Tuesday the 7th was "Fun in the Sun Day." Morning exercises were done to tropical music. Everyone got to try something from a delicious fresh fruit tray. During the after- noon we had a sun quiz and then did some serious planning for our upcom- ing Florida-bound trip in March. Midweek was a manicure and shoe shine. Thursday (9th) the men ~ got together in the morn- ing for a men's dart ses- sion. Top winner was Mr. Percy'Williamson. During the afternoon we had crafts. Valentine table fa- vours were made for that upcoming special day. Throughout the evening was active games. The week ended with baking. Quite a variety of goodies were whipped up. The residents and staff extend their sincerest sympathy to the family and friends of Mr. Jim Grosgene. Jim passed away Jan. 1. Many will miss his company.
