News from the Nestleton area " By Mabel Cawker Families in the News Edgar and Anne Emer- son of Nestleton spent two wonderful weeks in New- foundland recently, trav- elling on Christmas Day from Toronto Airport. While there, they had an enjoyable holiday with son Ian and Carolyn Emerson , who are on the teaching staff at Memori- al University in St. John's, Newfoundland. Edgar and Anne met a good many of Ian and Car- olyn's friends and co- workers, and viewed the highlights of the province. Allin all, a great trip. Had an interesting visit with Sam's sister, Grace Hastings of Port Perry on news day Monday last, be- fore returning home. Seven year old Alanna Holland of Cadmus, had an exciting birthday cele- bration on Friday evening when seven friends, her two brothers and grand- ma, Neta Fish, gathered at her home for supper and a party. She received lovely gifts and a feast of hot dogs, etc, topped off with a gorgeous birthday cake, which her mom had well planned. Our best wishes to Alanna for a happy year. The nasty flu is making the rounds throughout Scugog Township. If you are unlucky enough to de- velop it, go to bed, stay warm and drink plenty of hot fluids until you can see your doctor. February 13, brothers night, with Fred Alton convener of re- freshments. Try to attend thisexcitingevening. Community Church Caesarea It was a very, very cold morning, however, there was an average turn out for the Church Service. Dana took part in the service, while the Minis- ter played the organ, as the regular organist is away at this time. The lesson was read by the minister Rev. W.H. Crawford. He used for his reading the 3rd chapter of Acts, verses 1-19. His ser- mon was based on verse 7, when Peter took the lame man by the hand and lift- ed him up, with a prayer for his healing. Peter and John were following the Divine Pattern, shown to them by Jesus Christ. We meet again next Sunday at 11 a.m. for another ser- vice.
