PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, February 11, 1992 - 27 ATT707775 + Canadian Tire Midget B Islanders travelled to Owen Sound for a pair of games in their quarter final series. Saturday, Feb. 8 in the opening game the Islanders showed lots of hustle from the opening faceoff. Late in the period Scott Wylie scored on a backhand shot to put Port up 1-0. Assists to Darrell Vanderligt and Jason Coutoulakis. Early in the second Lyndsay Parry scored on a nice pass from Mike Williams. Two minutes later Owen Sound snuck one in to make the score 2-1. The Isles kept the pressure on and with two minutes left in the second, Chad Garvock won a faceoff in the Sound end and Mark Cosway blasted it into the lower left hand corner for a 3-1 lead. In the third period Steve Desautels scored on a breakaway by deking the Owen Sound goalie. Islanders split pair of playoff matches with Owen Sound Assist to Mark Cosway. Final score: 4-1 for Islanders. Sunday, Feb. 9 at noon the two teams were back on the ice for the second game. In this game the Isles struck early for a 1-0 lead. Jason Coutoulakis from Chad Garvock and Steve Desautels. Owen Sound tied the score late in the first at 1-1. The boys forgot what had been so successful and stopped backcheck- ing and let Owen Sound score two early in the third after a scoreless second period to take a 3-1 lead. With five minutes left in the third period Todd Smart won a faceoff in the Sound end and Mark Cosway fired one into the top corner to bring the score to 3-2 for Owen Sound. Careless play with 1:28 left allow- ed Owen Sound to score and record a 4-2 win. Series resumes in Port Perry on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 16 at 12:30 p.m. Lions Club Annual Day on Ice The Port Perry Lions Club held its third annual Day on the Ice fishing derby on Sat- urday.
