A JULIA DEMPSEY/ PORT PERRY STAR Grade 3 students at R. H. Cornish Public School learned about different careers recently. Megan Little and Ashlea Jones listen with interest to Bobbie Drew (not pictured) who talked about her job as a trustee. (See story for details.) Grade 3 students learn about careers avallable to them They may only be eight and nine years old, but many of the Grade 3 students at R. H. Cor- nish Public School already have an idea of what they want to be when they grow up. The students have had a number of guests recently who have been talking to them about different career choices. A psychologist, a police offi- cer, a homemaker, the mayor and a school board trustee are among some of the many guests who have visited the children. The Port Perry Star dropped into their class on Friday when Bobbie Drew, a public school board trustee for Scugog Town- ship, was talking to the stu- dents. She told them how she got her job, whatitentails, and approxi- mately how many hours a week she works. After telling the students about her job, the floor was open to questions. Here's a small sampling of what the students wanted to know: "How come we can't have sinks in the classroom?" "Are you rich?" "How old are you?" "When did you start as a trus- tee?" "Is your job hard?" "Do you like your job?" "When is your birthday?" "Did you play ringette when you were a little girl?" "Do you pay taxes?" "How come a lunch hour isn't an hourlong?" "What year were you born in?" - PYCHOTHERAPY - - MARRIAGE AND FAMILY COUNSELLING - - DIVORCE MEDIATION - - STRESS MANAGEMENT - Port Perry Counselling Services MEDICAL ASSOCIATES, 462 Paxton St. Maureen Salkeld, B.A., M.Ed. 985-0757 - DAY OR EVENING - "All at Guaranteed Lowest Prices UNITED CARPET. A delicious roast beef dinner, complete with a variety of pies, tea and coffee, was served by Dorothy Lee and her assistants. Later, a fan- tastic birthday cake was cut by the Cawker twins and served, and hap- py birthday was sung. Visiting and reminiscing was en- joyed.
