Draw- ing the assists were Aaron Chambers, Glenn McCready and Ryan McQuade. Feeling somewhat comfortable with a 4-2 lead Port players became spectators as they watched Bowmanville take control and scoring with less than two minutes on the clock. Only thing left to do was pull their goalie which they did, supply an ex- tra attacker. Both teams put in a good effort as the rubber bounced around finally finding the net, en- ding the game in a 4-4 tie. On Sunday Millbrook hosted Port. As is custom Port lit the scoreboard first when Dave Gainey fed the puck to Ryan McQuade who caught the short side of the goalie. From then on the puck appeared to belong to Millbrook as they banged in four goals. Port came alive in the third period and put pressure on the Millbrook goalie. Pickering got close with two goals as period two wound down, but Port came right back damage for Lions. Scugog 6 - Lions 3. On Sunday, March 8, Scugog Lumber hosted Lewis Motors and barely escaped with a win. Travis Pickard opened the scoring on a tip- in from Ben Stephenson and Graham Strickert. Five minutes later Travis struck again for Scugog finishing off a three way play from Ben and Jonathon Reed. In the second period Travis notch- ed his hat trick on a breakaway set- up on a nice pass from Chris Orr and Tom Keeble. With a three to zero lead Scugog went back on their heels a little bit and Lewis took up the challenge. Jamie Page notched his first goal of the season unassisted to get things rolling. Chad Lance then put one in the top shelf assisted by Eric Wygerde and Scott Willman. Then things got hot. Chad's next shot handcuffed Keeble and rested on the line before Keeble scooped it up. Lewis kept the pressure up and were robbed by Keeble time and time again. With the goalie pulled for an extra attacker they just couldn't score the equalizer. Travis Pickard (hat trick) and Tom Keeble stood out for Scugog as did Joel Phoenix and Chad Lance for Lewis. Devon Symes was steady in goal for Lewis. Scugog 3 - Lewis 2. This only succeeded in motivating the Doormen to score three more goals from Kristan Wot- ton, Darryl Moase and Shane Norton with assists to Trevor Smith, Aron Levy and Kevin Gray. The final score of 7-3 was con- vincing as Port out shot Picker- ing 51 to 18 and this was due en- tirely to a full team effort as line after line skated, checked and shot at the net. It seems that Tim and Jeff have these guys pumped up in this series. Lets keep focused boys.
