The CANSKATE skaters have been working really hard this year learning all of the skating elements. ey have all achieved success in the CANSKATE badge program with the majority of the 118 skaters having completed the requirements for at least two badges. The Precision Team will be performing on Friday, April 10 only and the Pairs Skaters will be with us both evenings. We look forward to their perfor- mances and hope that you will join us. Our Senior Skaters will be opening both of the shows with a color presentation and will be doing a special saluté to Canada on its 125th Birthday. As well, each of the skaters will be doing a solo that has been choreo- graphed by their coaches Donna Newbold, Celia Sanford, Pame- la Richards, Michael Sander- son, Hilary Simpson and Vale- rie Tunstall-Yamada.- The coaches efforts on behalf of our skaters has been greatly appre- ciated this year. A dance demonstration will be presented by Jennifer Berry and her partner Timothy Fowl- er. Jennifer is a member of our club and Timothy is a member of the Lakefield Club. Our Amateur coaches will be honored on the Friday evening for their hard work in helpin the skaters in the CANSKATE program. They are Amy Chap- man, Sarah Chapman, Amy - Davidson, Nicole Gibson, Theresa Gracie, Heidi Obstfeld, Julie Obstfeld, Melissa Robin- son and Faith Scholfield. Cornish Intermediate Girls Basketball team had a successful year, topping the sea- son off with an impressive victory over Thorton Public School to capture the intermediate Major Girls Division Championship pennant. Cornish Cougar Girls capture Major School Championship The D.E.A.A. (Durham Ele- mentary Athletic Association) playoffs started back on March 2 for the R.H. Cornish Interme- diate Girls' Basketball Team. In the area playoffs they defeated West Lynde to advance to the "Final Eight" at Durham Col- lege on March b5. At that tournament they won all three games against Central Park, Pringle Creek and S.J. Phillips to win their side of the pool. The "Final Four" was played after the March break on March 31 at Anderson Colle- giate. In a tough game against Dr. Robert Thornton, the other top major school, R.H.
