PEVR HVIDSTEN / PORT PERRY STAR Prince Albert School held their graduation ceremonies last Tuesday morning in the school's auditorium. Awards were presented to a number of the grade six graduating class for academic, sports and overall achievement. Above, are the winners of Academic Awards, from left, Laura Robinson (French Award) and Kimberly Coates who both shared the Scholastic Award, Christopher Langford, winner of the Mathematics Achievement Award, and Julie Slute and Heather Johnson who shared the Creative Writing Award. (Top left) The Citizenship Award, presented to students displaying characteristics which include good leadership, accepting responsibility and a willingness to help was presented to grade six students Holly Garrat and Scott Laffin. This will be a hot dog and hamburger barbecue this year. Opening ceremonies will be held at 11 a.m. at the Community Centre, with a flag raising, and then proceed along the Daw trail to the main park. All sorts of special events are planned, even a square dance. Come along and join in the fun. Earlier in the day they enjoyed a picnic at Serena Gundy Park, Toronto, which was hosted by Toronto General and Sick Children's Hospital. On Saturday evening, many from Ashburn enjoyed the park barbecue at Mount Zion Church. This has been one busy week. On Wednesday evening, Brooklin Horticultural Society held their rose show and gener- al meeting at Brooklin United Church. There were a total of 77 entries. Special awards went to Florence Downey, for the best red rose {Christian}. Best deco- . rative was won by Mary House- go for the Novice design "A Toast To Our Country." We con- gratulated these two ladies. For two consecutive years now, we have had no white rose award. Gary Smelling from Erin, Onta- rio was the guest speaker and he gave a very interesting and informative slide presentation and commentary on lilies.
