14 - PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, August 11, 1992 a _ Lae an "Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" Something fowl about birthdays "Sam, you'll have to come home. I think there's a prob- lem with the gas again," Debbie Tzountzouris told her husband in a panic- stricken voice Friday after- noon. But when Mr. Tzountzou- ris arrived at their Chester Crescent home five minutes later, he realized there wasn't a gas leak. Instead, he was greeted by 43 pink flamingos and a Happy Birthday banner on his front lawn. The gas leak "emergency" was the perfect excuse to get Mr. Tzountzouris home from his family-owned busi- ness Haugen's Chicken Bar- becue, his wife said, because they'd had a minor gas leak before. When asked if she was concerned that Mr. Tzount- zouris might call a repair- man before coming home, she said it wouldn't even be a consideration. "Sam's a do-it-yourselfer," she said. And sure enough, he arrived home ready to tackle the problem at hand himself. The couple, their son Sam, and some of the neigh- bors had a good chuckle over the prank. And it was probably the talk of the restaurant later that afternoon when the employees at Haugen's Chicken Barbecue were treated to birthday cake in Sam's honor. ERE EE --_---- ; " aii JULIA DEMPSEY/ PORT PERRY STAR Sam Tzountzouris received quite a surprise Friday after- noon when he was called home from work because of an "emergency." What he found when he got home were 43 pink flamingos and a Happy Birthday banner on his front lawn. Wife Debbie was the culprit who set up the prank.
