"A Family Tradition for 126 Years" Caesarea park will be designated Peace Park Cartwright Park will be one of about 250 parks across Cana- da to be dedicated as a national Peace Park. "The Township of Scugog Parks and Recreation Commit- tee believes the concept is a good one and has designated Cart- wright Park in Caesarea to be our Peace Park," said Ken Gads- den, Ward 3 councillor and Scu- gog Township Canada 125 chairman. "Our objective is to achieve sponsorship of the Peace Park by as many service groups as possible and to recognize their participation with a suitable plaque mounted at the loca- tion," he said, adding the cost per participating organization would be $200. Dedication ceremonies will be held simultaneously on October 8. The dedication of a national Peacekeeping Monument in Ot- tawa, which will commemorate Canada's active role in United Nations peacekeeping missions around the world, will also take place on thatday. A grove of 12 trees, represent- ing each province and territory, will be planted at each Peace Park and at the Peacekeeping Monument. The Peace Grove will be symbolic of the life, crea- tivity and hope for the future ity JY that thrives in peace. Dedication of the parks will provide an occasion to enhance public awareness and education regarding the historical role of Canadians as peacekeepers and Canada's commitment to world peace and environmental pro- tection.
