The president called the meeting to order by reading a poem, "The Peace That Passeth Understanding." "Blessed Assurance" was sung. Muriel Fisher read the scrip- ture reading from St. Matthew 6, vs. 24 - 34. Meditation was ti- tled "Busyness." Muriel led in prayer. The hymn "I Am Thine, O Lord" was sung. Aldine Wick acted as secretary for the meet- ing in the absence of our regular secretary. A get well card was signed by all to be sent to Chris- sie McKinney who is recuperat- ing nicely in hospital. Grace Hopkins was in charge of the program. Grace read a thought provoking peom, "If God Went think seriously of what a mess we would really be in, if God de- cided to turn everything into chaos for us. Bernice Gardner also shared a peom with us. Grace told us an interesting sto- ry on "The Life of Dwight L. Moody." The meeting closed by repeating The Mizpah Benedic- tion. Our hostess served lovely refreshments. The October meeting will be at the home of Muriel Fisher. On Sunday evening, Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m. there will be a special program at Burns Church spon- sored by the W.M.S. Eleanor Knight Group. A few members from Knox Church, Oshawa will be present as they share their experiences in Guyana with us, including a slide pres- entation. We invite everyone to Fellowship Sisters night out is Friday, November 12 | 332 Ee - Hope everyone enjoyed the fine "fair" weather this past couple of weekends as four of our local residents participated in the Port Perry Labor Day Fair. Michael Durward compet- ed with pony "Snowball," Erin Pierra with pony "Sir Charles," Kevin Durward with "Brockin" and Lee Ann Wray with her pony "Bandit." Collectively these four brought home many ribbons with their division. Lee Ann winning the 'high point' Shelly Houthuys Memorial tro- phy on Saturday. Sunday, Lee Ann also tied for Grand Cham- pion at the Port Perry Fair. Just this past weekend Ke- vin, Michael and Lee Ann com- plete in the Uxbridge fair and gave the other competitor a lot of stiff competition and Lee Ann again was high point'champion in the open division. Our com- munity 18 proud of our local competitors - congratulations to all. Happy birthday this week to Cory Slute, Timmothy Wray, Michael Cooke, Scott Runcie- man, Joshua Jonah, Jamie Smith, Joan Butler, Shirley Barr, Amy Wanamaker and Kent Taylor. Robinglade ladies please note a change in date for our first meeting. We will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 30 rather than Sept. 24. The meeting will be at Marlene Ross' home as originally planned. Mariposa ladies group will have their first meeting on Sept. 23. Everyones looking for a good turnout. Reminder for Girl Guides about their weekend out at Camp Samac!! Seagrave Church news - the EE ee ry Seagrave News by Ann Sandiford re 3 34 Ee a = ws Rally Day service was well at- tended on Sunday. When the Sunday School children and teachers returned to classes su- perintendent George Hill pre- sented diplomas and seals to the children. The anniversary service will be held Sunday, Sept. 11 at 11 a.m. Guest speak- er will be Dr. Victor Sheppard from the Streetsville United Church. Un behalf of the Seagrave United Church, Abe Ingram presented Ivan and Marion Barrett with a beautiful photo frame in appreciation of the many activities in which they have participated during the 19 years they have lived in the Sea- grave area. Shirley Barr and El- eanor Nicholls presented a life membership pin to Marion. A reception for the Barretts fol- lowed the service. Ivan and Marion have recently moved to Wilmont Creek. The communi- ty wishes them well in their new home, we will miss Ivan's musical talents and Marion's crafts and her endless help at the church yard sales. Congratulations to "James Campbell Pee Wee No Faults" baseball team of Uxbridge who won the Ontario Baseball Asso- ciation Pee Wee "D" champion- ship on Labor Day Weekend in Belle River (near Windsor). Special congratulations to Ryan Pucknn a member of the team for winning the "most valuable player - MVP) award for the tournament. That 1s 1t for the news this week. We sure hope next week- end brings forth the weather of this weekend. Word has it the weatherman says we're going to break a record -- six days of con- secutive good weather?? At morning worship Barbara Port- er was presented with a hibis- cus plant in appreciation for serving as church organist over the last few months. There will be no regular ser- vice next Sunday as St. John's Church, Port Perry are holding their anniversary. Guest speak- er will be Rev. lan Morrison. Church school will be at the usual time next Sunday at 10 a.m. Choir practice resumes on Come & See the Thursday evening at 8 p.m. Lloyd and Margaret Pugh vis- ited with Doug and Florence Ashton last Thursday evening.
