In addition, there are no flames, flues or fumes, and the systems are extremely quiet and easy to operate. Also, the home is attractive because there is no noisy, unsightly out- side equipment. Geothermal systems are also quite beneficial to the environ- ment. Since there is no burning fuel, geothermal systems do not produce pollution. Electric utili- ties can eliminate brownouts and the building of new coal- fired, pollution-generating pow- er plants.
