PETER HVIDSTEN / PORT PERRY STAR The Rotary Club of Port Perry held their annual Golf Tournament at Sunnybrae Golf Course Wednesday, with 100 golfers taking part. Following a day on the course a steak barbecue dinner and awards presentation took place. Winners for longest drives and closest to the hole are, from left, lan Griffin, longest drive #12; Grant Menzies, closest to hole #6; Art Robson, longest drive #2; Gary Geer, longest drive #5; Bryan Davies, closest to hole #15 and Jerry Taylor, longest drive #11. York-Durham Fastball League Two other rookies won awards have closed out their season as well: Adam Moynes was and their sponsor Larry Tavlor "Most Spirited Player" and Tim of "Taylor-Ford Mercury" gen- Jones was "Most Versatile erously provided trophies for Player," having capably played (LS-------- ------ -- each member of the team as well as individual special awards. "Top Batter" for the season was pitcher Mark Richardson with a great 0.508 average. Sec- ond baseman Chris Monsma had the top "On-Base Average" for the team at 0.636. Rookie Matt Skerratt won an award as every fielding position as well as pitching during the season. The "Most Valuable Player" award went to Braden Tarbot- ton who was an offensive cata- lyst with an 0.5627 on-base aver- age, did a fine job as the team's number two pitcher in addition to being the team's best all- round fielder. The overall winning team in the Rotary Club Golf Tournament last Wednesday was a the above team.
