Works of Steffen Heinrich to be shown at Kent Farndale Gallery The Kent Farndale Gallery at the Scugog Memorial Public Li- brary presents the art of Stef- fen Heinrich from Oct. 17 to Nov. 6. You are invited to join the artist at the opening recep- tion on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 1-4 p.m. Mr. Heinrich is a Port Perry resident discovered and encour- aged by Kent Farndale to show us his view of life. Born in Ber- lin, Germany, he spent his ado- lescent years in Uxbridge and moved to Scugog several years ago. Mr. Heinrich's father and brothers are artists but he tells us that his mother was "Susie homemaker." Encouraged by his family to pursue an art ca- reer, he studied at George Brown College. Mr. Heinrich tells us that he likes to "lean" into his work. Come, join us and see the result. "Throughout history artists have always been the eyes of their times, recording pictorial- ly daily life and current events. Their views are wide, from an afternoon at the cafe to the ab- horence of raging war," Mr. Heinrich says. "However we are no longer provincial and few in numbers. There is so much confusion with informational overload at our fingertips and global unrest on our doorstep, hat often in our muddled daily existence the simplicity of a singularly mag- nificent flower or a babbling brook in autumn can be the per- fect stimulant, the balance that instills an inner peacefulness, "he adds. "If a piece of art is truly suc- cessful it produces emotion, whether that 1s tranquility, Oo) DURHAM REGION thought provoking or even total dislike. "As seers we reflect not only the tangible, but also illusions from the heart and soul, from our hopes and fears, thus creat- ing avenues of escape, venues of wonderment, fantasies that can pull vou away and encourage PET OF THE WEEK This week's Pet of the Week 18 a one-year-old female collie Cross.
