MoJacks have maintained high point totals for several years By Kelly Lown Port Perry Star The Port Perry MoJacks en- tered the Central Ontario Jun- jor C League in 1972, and have steadily gained momentum as the seasons passed. Over the past eight years the team's season-end point totals have remained fairly consis- tent. The team's improved play led the franchise to three league championships in the past five seasons. In 1983-84 the team finished with 41 points with a 18-11-56 record. In the 1984-85 and 1985-86 seasons the team dropped to 19 and 22 points respectively. The 1986-87 season notched a turn-around point for the club. The season's point total of 47 with a 22-9-3 record set the pace for years to come. Both accomplishments were a first for the club. : In 1988-89 the team had an- other impressive record going 21-15-5for47 points. In the 1989-90 season the Mo- TYLER TEEL #18 Defense Tyler J.H. Teel is a new addition to the Port Perry MoJacks this season. The Little Britain native will be on the blueline for the ModJacks. Teel is 6'1" and weighs 185 pounds. Nineteen-year-old Teel is a left-handed Jacks claimed the franchise's second league championship af- ter finishing the season with 48 points. The club had a slight lapse in 1990-91 when the point total dropped to 43 points, but turned around once again last season as the league championship tro- phy had a home in Port Perry for the third time. shooter and is wearing sweater number 18. Teel played his minor hockey days for the Little Britain OMHA. He played last season at Sir Sanford Fleming College. His scoring $tatistics were not available. The highest level of hockey he has played Is Junior A camp at college. He said he came to the MoJacks' organization because of the team's sincerity and ability to win. Eighteen-year-old Wild is a native of Oshawa where he played his minor hockey days. The 6'1" goaltender weighs 160 pounds. Last season Wild split his time playing for both the Oshawa Little N.H.L. and the Rotary Midgets "AA" squads. He sported a 2.75 goals against average last season. Wild is wearing sweater number one. He is a left hand shooter. Wild came to the MoJack organization for a number of reasons. He said he was attracted to the club because of "its winning spirit, coach Ryder, fan support and the town of Port Perry." Wild said he believes this season will be a continuation of last season for the Port Perry Junior C hockey club. He has remained with the club because he enjoys hockey and working with the young men on the team. Parliament said he began the position because he likes the community and feels it is a worthwhile project. "In a town this size people should be proud to have a Junior C club," he said. Brad Ryder is beginning his first season as the coach of Thirty-year-old Ryder who is from Oshawa has been on the bench and behind the bench for many years. the MoJdacks. He played hockey for such coaches as Dave Dryden and Mike Keenan, in the Toronto minor hockey league and with the Peterborough Petes of the Junior A league.
