See story for details. Oh Deer! The School Advisory Commit- tee (SAC) at S. A. Cawker Public School had an unexpected visi- tor at its meeting Thursday eve- ning. The six parents and one teacher were settling into their meeting in the school's staff room after 8 p.m. when a deer came crashing through the win- dow and vertical blinds. "The window crashed and in came a deer," Kelly Ewing, chairman of the SAC, told the Port Perry Star Friday morn- ing. The frightened deer created havoc as it ran around the L- shaped room. Mrs. Ewing said the deer tore up some of the furniture, kicked the door off the oven and left a trail of blood and dirt. The women eventually es- caped from the room and called '4 the janitor, who turned off the staff room light. As soon as the light was turned off, the deer jumped back out the window. "We were really shaken up," Mrs. Ewing said. "One of the moms went absolutely white." She said it was lucky the acci- dent happened when it did. Only an hour or so earlier, the staff room was filled with young students selling chips and pop during a volleyball tournament. "It was amazing it had gotten through the window at all," said Diane Hooker, who was also in the room at the time of the inci- dent. The police were called but were unable to find the injured deer.
