"He's probably got one of the hardest shots in the league," he said. Along with Vernon's hat trick against the Eagles, Jeff Bann scored a pair of goals while Clair Cornish added a single. Friday night the MoJacks travelled to Lakefield to face the Chiefs who sit in second place in the Central Ontario di- vision. Despite being without seven players due to injury or prior commitments, the MoJacks put up a solid effort and came away with a 4-3 victory. "We played well even though we were short-handed," said Ryder of the win over the Chiefs. "We ended up using some de- fencemen up front and it worked out well," he said. "The guys did what they were told to do and it worked." Vernon scored once and as- sisted on another to lead his club over the Chiefs. Shannon Todd also had a goal and an assist with Jan Heyes and Brent Gaylor rounding out the Port Perry scoring. The win over Lakefield came without the help of Clair Cor- nish who is still hurting from a leg injury and also sat out Sun- day night's loss to Little Brit- ain. Ryder's focus after Sunday night was not on the loss, but on the performance of his club over a weekend that may prove to be a major turning pointin the sea- son. "It's taken a bit of time, but I think it's starting to fall into place now," he said. "Most of the guys are putting out a lot better effort." MoJacks' Facts The MoJacks' next game will be in Bobcaygeon this Friday where they'll try to win their fifth game in the last six. Port Perry has dominated the Bullets - as has everyone else - outscoring them 38-7 through the two clubs first three meet- ings. Sunday, the MoJacks travel to Bowmanville for a 7:30 p.m. start and come home on Thurs- day, Nov. 19 for a game against Lakefield. The game against Little Brit- ain Sunday saw the two clubs combine for 98 minutes in pen- alties and five game miscon- ducts. Jim Vernon's fine play has put him in a tie for the MoJacks' scoring lead. Vernon's 12 goals and seven assists equal the to- tal of Shannon Todd, whose 10 goals and nine assists give him 19 points through 13 games. Ivory Forest Belles lose 5-3 to Barrie Debs On Sunday, Nov. 8 the Ivory Forest Belles met head on with the Barrie Debs at Eastview Arena in Barrie. Both teams were com- prised of equally feisty players and the play was hard and fast. In spite of Port's determined efforts they were not able to capital- ize on any of the shots. Bar- rie, however, was able to score four markers on some well-placed shots. During the second period Port Perry began to exert some additional pressure and lean on their opposition. Ten minutes into the period Tanya Towns snared the ring, setting a passing-play into motion which resulted in Port's first goal scored by Megan Marlowe, who flew in at the Barrie netminder to cleanly blast the ring into the net. Port's following two goals were scored by Val Payne, who was finally rewarded for her constant effort throughout the game. Val scored her first goal when she took the goaltender by surprise by firing away a well-placed backhand. Kim Poppleton teamed up with Val on her second goal to earn herselfan assist. Putting in a solid perfor- mance between the pipes, Tracy Pelow allowed only one additional Barrie goal. Although Port went down to defeat by a 5-3 score, all team members put forth a commendable effort which forced Barrie to work hard for every point. Broker JACK GRANT, 5 MLS
