The View Lake resident, who did not wish to be named, said she believes her nine-month-old Rottweiler/Shepherd pup was stolen from in front of her home at Christmas time. "Ilet him out at 1:40 p.m. and by 2:10 p.m. he was gone. There was no sign of him anywhere. There was no tracks," she told the Star. "He was friendly and well- looked after. He wouldn't just take off," she added. She fears her pet was picked up and possibly sold for re- search. Others may be taken for breeding purposes, she add- ed. "There have been a suspicious number of dogs who have gone - missing recently, "she said. "The strange thing is all the dogs that are missing are la and under the age of three. That is when they are healthy," she added. "I really feel something strange is going on. I did advert- ize a couple times that my dog - was missing, but I really believe he was picked up." She said she has talked to a number of people who have also lost their dog and says many of them fear their dog met the same fate. These suspicions are unwar- ranted, says a spokesman for the Uxbridge/Scugog Animal Shelter. : "I just think the dogs are be- coming lost because of the cold weather, they cannot sniff their way home," Shirley Kohler, of Durham Regional Police are warning parents in the area to be vigilant after a involving a seven-year-old Port Perry boy. school bus near Perry and John Streets last Tuesday "afternoon, when a full-size with two men in the vehicle KARATE Police warn parents to keep watch on kids following attempted pick-up . offered the boy a ride. recent abduction attempt. According to Police, the boy had just stepped off the metallic blue pick-up truck Animal Control told the Port Perry Star. ; But, the View Lake resident feels if this were the case there would be dogs running loose and would be picked up by dog-. catchers, when in fact the local" shelter currently has less dogs than usual. Because she feels something is happening to these dogs, the View Lake resident wants to warn dog owners and urge them to watch their dogs. "Who knows? If people keep watching, maybe someone will see something," shesaid. oo ---- 'He refused the ride and: ran to a nearby residence.
