I spent a short time in Port Hospital having minor surgery. From the time | entered the door for my pre- hospital stay checkup until my surgery was over, [ encountered many caring and dedicated peo- ple. The nurses were very atten- tive but cheerful. They kept a close eye on me. Many thanks to everyone who helped me on Dec. 28 to part with my gall- bladder. Special thanks to Dr. Cohoon who explained every- thing so carefully, and to those nurses who could give needles so quickly and painlessly. A lovely tribute was given by the past President Helen McKean to Mrs. Myrtle Spencer who will celebrate her 90th birthday in January. She has lived most of her married life in Greenbank and has been a faithful member of Greenbank United Church. She was really surprised and pleased when Helen presented her with a lovely bouquet of flowers. On Saturday, Jan. 22, there will be a Reception in the church when the family invite everyone to help celebrate Myr- tle's birthday. Weekend guests with Iva and Fred Phoenix were Dot and SWEDEN Andy Poupore of Thornloe. Their granddaughter Sarah Phoenix has returned to college in Guelph after her Christmas vacation. We are sorry to report the death of Mrs. Evelyn Tait. She was a long-time resident of Greenbank, but was living with her daughter in Cannington. She is a sister of Mrs. Arvellf Phoenix. Another sister, Grace Gray, is now a patient in Ux- bridge Hospital. Mrs. Tait's fu- neral is at Wagg's Funeral Par- lors on Tuesday. The January meeting of Women's Institute will be held at the home of Shirley Lee on Jan. 19 at 1:30 p.m. This is Family and Consumers Affairs meeting.
