Blackstock Ag Society honors McLaughlins for long service The annual meeting of the Blackstock Agricultural Society was held on Saturday evening at the Recreation Centre with fewer members than usual present. Following a social time, Grace was said by Ralph Larm- er and a delicious pot luck din- ner enjoyed. Following dinner, the head table was introduced by Mark Graham who also thanked the members of the Blackstock Pathfinders who had assisted with setting out and cleaning up after dinner. Janice Beechey presented Roy and Edith McLaughlin with an Agricultural Service Di- ploma_in recognition of their many years of efforts for the Fair. This is the highest award that an Agricultural Society can present to its members. Dale VanCamp presented Ben De Jong, on behalf of Youngfield Farms Ltd., with the Hall Tro- phy for winner of the Field Crop Competition. Leah Frew reviewed her year as President. Joyce Kelly pre- sented a favorable financial statement. Each chairman of the many committees reported cn the year's activities. It was evident Blackstock Agricultu- ral Society had had a successful year. Dale VanCamp conducted the election of directors and officers - Past President Dale Van- Camp, President Leah Frew, First Vice-President Lawrence VanCamp, Second Vice- President Mark Graham, Homecraft President Janice Beechey, Vice-President Home- craft Helen Coates. Directors - Ann Julia Bajema, Ellen Beal, Janice Beechey, Millie Coy, Jo- die Duff, Leah Frew, Glenys Gotham, Mark Graham, John Green, Marilyn Green, Kathy Hill, Gerald Kelly, Craig Larm- er, Dorothy Lee, Barry Van- Camp, Dale VanCamp, Law- rence VanCamp and Dennis Yellowlees. A large slate of As- sociate Directors accepted. Linda and Lawrence McLaughlin were re-appointed 'auditors and Joyce Kelly re- appointed Secretary - Treasurer. The annual O.A.A.S. Conven- tion was announced for Feb. 15, 16, 17. Any directors wishing to attend part or all of this conven- tion which is held in the Royal York, Toronto, are asked to con- tact Joyce or Leah. Joan Graham showed slides taken of the 1993 Blackstock Fair which brought back many memories. The remainder of the evening was spent dancing to the music of Brian Stevenson. Mr. and Mrs. McLaughlin were presented the award for more than 25 years of meritorious service.
