Unfortunate- ly the first game of the day was a lopsided affair as Joel Phoenix put on a one man show for the Larocque team. He led his teammates with a five goal per- formance and picked up an as- sist on another goal. Brad Mon- sma had a good game as well for the Larocque team as he dis- played good forechecking and skating skills. Adam Brain played well on defense and made some good lead passes. Jeff Harrison played very well digging along the boards and getting the puck out of the corners to his other teammates. Jeff also picked up a goal and an assist for his ef- forts. Chris Jones and Troy Hazel- den rounded out the scoring while Jamie Clarke picked up three assists. The other assists went to Jon Sanders with two and Devon Symes picking up an assist. Ben Stephenson picked up the other assist on the goal. Wade Ritchie played a good game on defence and forward. In the second period Eric Troan made a nice lead pass to Steve Martin on a possible scor- ing chance but he was stopped just after he hit the blue line. Adam Kingma played well on defense for the Big V team. Goaltender Ryan Fraser played well for the Big V team as he had to face many hard shots. In the second game of the day Emiel's squared off against Sca- la. This game was a very fast paced game and was full of some great passing. Tyler Woot- ton opened the scoring up in the first period on an unassisted goal for the Scala team. Emiel's answered back when Kam Cooper stole the puck in the Scala end zone and back handed a beautiful shot over the shoulder of goaltender Chris Thompson. The game went from end to end with some nice passing and it looked like it was going to be a one goal game, however in the middle of the third period Mur- phy Irvine picked up two unas- sisted goals to put the game out of reach. Mark Delaney played well on defense for the Emiel team. Nick Ostafichuk made a nice pass to Chad Lance for what looked like a sure goal but Chris Thompson came up with a great save. Todd Mitchell and Jeremy Hall played well on defense for the Scala team. The league standings are tight with approximately only one month of regular season play left before the playoffs. Wreckers cruise by Lumbermen a lightning quick start ana a complete team effort helped the Whitby Auto Wreckers contin- ue a league leading undefeated streak. Paced by Beau Joli- coeurs hat trick and some strong backchecking by all the forwards the Wreckers nailed down a solid 10-1 victory. After two fast goals less than two minutes in by Jolicoeur and Ian Bonser the team settled into a full effort. The period end- ed with a last second goal by Mathew Tillard. In the second John Ross Len- nox showed everyone but his dad (who was co-ordinating the Dog Sled Races and coaches the team.) Some fine offensive skillson an end toend rush.
