"A Family Tradition for 128 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, February 8,1994 - 25 Bell plans budget priced long distance phone calls Port Perry and Uxbridge are among the communities which could get extended calling areas under a new proposal being con- sidered by Bell Canada. The new plan, which comes following a failed attempt to ini- tiate a huge toll-free last year, is subscriber based and would provide long-distance calling from Niagara On-The-Lake to Bowmanville (see map). Residential subscribers to the TeleCity service would pay $14.95 per month for a five hour block of calling time anywhere withinf the designated area. The new service would also be available to businesses which could purchase 12-hours of long distance service for $34.95 per month, or 25 hours for $71.95 a month. o = AfterLoss; Learning bow to cope with grief Questions & Answers about grief recovery* Q. My father, mother and husband all died within a period of 15 p= - ever since. My doctor thinks my problems are emotional and he sent me to a counselor. After six months I feel no better. Why isn't this counseling helping me? A. Major losses tend to have an accumulative effect. In your case, the grief process is complex and its intensity is multiplied. The counselor' job is to help you explore your feelings, to understand them and to encourage you to take responsibility to com- plete your healing process. The problem usually lies with the patient's expecta- tions rather than with the counselor's inability to help, but the latter must also be considered. *Questions from bereavement classes are answered here by the editor of AfierLoss, the month- ly grief-recovery help letter. As an example TeleCity says a customer cur- rently spending $30 per month or more in short-haul long dis- tance calling could purchase 5 hours of calling for $14.95 per month. The proposed service would compete head-to-head with oth- er long distance competitors and local resellers, who charge monthly fees for unlimited calls into the Toronto market. Last year, Bell's proposed toll- free calling area was rejected by the CRTC because even custom- ers who didn't want the service would have ended up paying for it.
