With La- rocque losing this 1-0 game, their sights became set on the B Championship. Game two for Larocque fea- tured a great game against Cannington with no penalties. Good hard work saw Larocque win, with a final score of 4-2. The B Championship was an all-Port Perry final featuring Larocque and Emiel's. With both teams having only two lines, it was amazing how the boys were able to keep such a fast pace even for their third game of the day. Emiel's struck first as Mark Santer put the puck behind ill ALE 4d il f {EPL OY J JE i Poin settled in the pipes, allow- ing only one more goal for the duration of the game. «= L,arocque woke up at the end of period one with Peter McKit- terick scoring on a three-way pass from Brad Monsma and Adam Brain. Jon Sanders, in perfect position, put in a re- bound from Jamie Clarke's shot. Chris Jones went end-to- end, scoring Larocque's third goal. With no one to pass to, Chris fired a hard wrist shot past John Chambers who had no chance. Joel Phoenix netted the next two goals with Jamie Clarke and Jon Sanders assisting on the first one. Larocque's final goal came off the stick of the tournament's MVP Adam Brain. Joel Phoenix and Jamie Clarke assisted. Adam Brain had a great tour- nament winning MVP, but spe- cial mention should go to Jamie Clarke and Peter McKitterick for great hustle. With La- rocque's defence away on March break, Devon Symes and Keith Hancock filled in admira- bly, not allowing any goals for six periods of hockey. Congratulations to Larocque for the B Championship. It was hard work with only two lines. | and N Tuk; Joel Flivenix Peewee house league The Peewee House League finished its last two games of round robin play to determine who would go into the consola- tion or the championship round next week. Both games were well played, fast paced games. First game of the day had Big V up against Scala. Big V opened up the scoring early in the game on an unassisted goal by defenceman Adam Kingma. Two minutes later Scala tied it up on a nice wrap around goal by Tyler Wootton. Both goaltenders Ryan Fras- er and Chris Thompson played very well and kept the score tied until half way through the sec- ond period when John Bacon scored on a power Slay al on nice passes from Greg Bruton urphy Irvine. The second period ended 2-1 for Scala. Scala looked like they were going to put the gam away when early in the third pe- 'riod Jumie Page scored on a high shot over the sprawling ' Big 'V goaltender to make the ~ game38-1, ) "However the Big V team ral- lied a couple of minutes later as Wade Ritchie made a perfect pass from the corner to Greg Ra- nieri to make the game 3-2. With two minutes left to go in the game Adam Kingma took a slap shot from the point that was tipped by Ken Ellis to tie the game at 3-3. Wade Ritchie picked up the other assist on this goal. There was lots of ex- citement in the last minute of play as Greg Bruton took a hard wrist shot only to be stopped by the quick glove of Ryan Fraser. Russell Brown of the Scala team played very well on de- fense as he stopped numerous rushes and cleared the puck out of his end killing penalties. Ken Ellis gets the nod for the Big V team as he led many rushes and had a number of scoring chanc- es. The second game of the day saw Larocque up against Emiel's. This was a fast, good passing type of game with both teams back and forth up the ice only to he denied many scoring chances by the two goalies. Jon Chambers in goal for Emiel's and Jamie Clarke for Larocque both had outstanding games be- tween the pipes. Jon Sanders scored in the top corner over a sprawling Jon Chambers to put Larocque up 1-0 in the last two minutes of play in the first peri- od. There was no scoring in the second period, however, there were lots of chances. Jon robbed Tommy Keeble, Adam Brain and Troy Hazelden as they all - er of a possible goal as Mark - tried to tip a pass between his legs on a power play. With 1:06 left to go in the game Mark Sauter picked up a loose puck at the blue line to give himself a breakaway and scored on the backhand. Mark Delaney and Kam Cooper had strong games on defense while Ben Russell played well on forward for the Emiel's team. Devon Symes and Adam Brain were standouts on defense and Brad Monsma - showed lots of hustle for the La- rocque team. This puts Emiel's and Big V in the consolation game at 8:30 a.m. and Scala against La- rocque in the championship game at 9:45 a.m. next Satur- day. Come out and cheer your team on, it will be exciting hock- ey. Swamp Bantams finish preliminary round The Port Perry Swamp Auto Body hockey team of the local Bantam House League played host to the Brooklin Concrete team from East Gwillimbury on March 16 in what turned out to be a very high scoring playoff af- fair. The first period was a very hard-fought battle but the Swampers jumped out front by a 2-1 score on goals by Jeremy Gibson, unassisted, then Aaron Levy from Noah Dorland. The second period was a car- bon copy of the first as the Swampers again outscored their opposition by a 2-1 count, WIN ONE OF Covering the Durbam Region > SINCE Come and play the fastest game on two feet, with one of the fastest growing sports organizations AGES 3 - 20 FINAL REGISTRATION Iroquois Arena - Whitby Sat. Doing the scoring for the Swam- pers were Kris Wootton from Jeremy Gibson and Cory Wy- trazyk and then Aaron Levy from Jamie Sauter and Cory Wytrazyk. The third period had the Swampers totally dominate the Brooklin Concrete team as they pounded in a total of four goals. Rounding out the scoring for the Swampers were Jay Fletch- er with two, Kris Wootton and Jamie Sauter with helpers to Jeremy Gibson, Kris Wootton, Ron Colvin, Aaron Levy and Lisa Bonser. The final score in this rout was 8-2 for the home- town Swampers. Also deserving mention was Swamper goalie Doug Short who was once again doing a fine job guarding the net coming up with some big stops. The Swampers next took their undefeated playoff record into Uxbridge on March 19 for the final playoff game. It's hard to say whether it was the fact that the Swampers had just played a tournament the previ- ous day or that they thought that they had already clinched a spot in the final but this was not one of our better perfor- mances. We as a team blew this game by a 4-2 score. There were some highlights but not many, there was some hustle but not much, there were some passing plays but very few, there were some good stops but then a couple of bad misses, there were some good efforts but then some lazy efforts. This game had it all except what we should have been doing. We did manage to get a couple of goals, however, as Jay Fletcher scored from Cory Wytrazyk and Lisa Bons- er fired one home from Nick Skerratt and Jay Fletcher. This wraps up the Swamper's playoff preliminary round which they finished off with three wins, one tie and one loss. Now we wait to see if it was good enough.
