Port Perry 985-3557 Ajax (905) 619-9645 Artist Mark Pettes returns to Scugog Public Library In response to popular de- mand artist Mark Pettes re- turns to show his fine pencil work at the Kent Farndale Gal- lery at Scugog Public Library, 231 Water Street in Port Perry from March 26 to April 15. Mark was born and raised in Kedron and much of his current work continues to be inspired by Durham scenes. A hedgerow of birch trees, a wild glade by Oshawa Creek, a farm scene are portrayed by Mark's strong sure pencil with great attention to thelight and play of shadows. This talented but modest art- ist currently lives in Toronto with his wife Laurie and small son and daughter. He main- tains an office in his home for his business of landscape archi- tecture and friends tell me that he is so dexterous that he can draw with one hand while tend- ing a baby with the other. He has recently experimented with portraiture, inspired by his wee daughter. Some of Marks work has re- cently been auctioned by chari- table groups to support the Children's Wish; Canada Foun- dation and nature and wildlife foundations. He has been grant- ed many awards at Buckhorn and the Robert Melzughtin Gallery. Kent Farndale quote: Mark uses pencil to great advantage and his black and white pieces with their subtle shading are very interesting and well done. You are invited to coffee at the gallery from 1 to 4 p.m. on the show. Saturday, March 26, 231 Water Street, Port Perry, to meet the artist, Mark Pettes, and enjoy Former Durham Police Chief Jon M.
