So pd a 18 - PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, April 5,1994 "Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice ' -- SProrTs J. PETER HVIDSTEN / PORT PERRY STAR The Blackstock Afternoon Curling League wrapped up their season last Tuesday afternoon with their annual awards banquet at the Blackstock arena. Winners of this year's trophy were Arlene Rowan, Lorna Edgerton and Carol Gray seen here receiving the trophy from club vice president Melanie Wright. Pearce Auction Novice From Page 17 end-to-end rushes. Making sev- eral key stops was goalie Thom- as Lee. Pearce Auction came out on top when Steve MacLennan found the back of the net with a little over a minute to go in the game. Assisting on the play were Kevin Robins and Garrett Brown. So, Pearce Auction was onits way to the finals. Game three saw Port Perry reunite with Stouffville who they beat out in the playoffs. Pearce Auction opened the scor- ing quickly, scoring in the first "minute of the game. Jamie scored, with an assist going to Dylan. Stouffville scored at the midway point of the first and then scored minutes into the second. The rest of the game was a real nailbiter with both teams having several good chances. Thomas between the pipes was exceptional for the Auctioneers. At 8:07 of the third period, Port Perry was awarded a rare penalty shot. Coach Bob Spencley looked at his troops and chose Jamieson Smith to take the shot. Jamie made no mistake, deking the goalie to tie the game. The game remained tied into overtime. Stouffville then took control and scored eight seconds into overtime to take the tournament prize. Port Perry worked hard and should be proud of their effort. Thanks coaches for all your hard work and thank you players for all the enjoyment you have brought to us parents. The team has one game remain- ing and it's a big one against the mothers. Good luck. moms! Bh. [eo] 1 | YE-y oT VIE <5) BIKE REPAIR TUNE-UPS For March For April Regular cost $24.9 (parts extra) EIEN EVEL EL [ + All work has 30 day * Used Bikes now * Buy. For the second game in a row, the Juvies jumped out with the first two goals. Thanks to McE- naney and Ridgway, Chad Kearns scored the first. A little while later, Ennis walked in and performed his magic to score the second, unassisted. Entering the third, Port sat back, and New Hamburg made a game of it. They pulled within one. Port responded with their own, on the powerplay. With Garvock set up in the corner, Heasman came off the point and sent a one-timer towards the net. McEnaney was sitting there to knock in the rebound. Before the game ended P rt would see their lead reduced to one again. However, the clock ran out - along with New Ham- burg's hopes of tying the game up. Fie a fifth game is needed, it will be played this Saturday, at 5 p.m. in the Scugog Arena. The fourth, and possibly the last game will be in New Hamburg on Wednesday night April 6. There will be another bus leav- ing the arena at 5 p.m. that night. If interested in supporting the Juvies, call 985-3483. Hore to see you make the journey and perhaps join in on the potential celebration! One more win to go, to end a 34-year championship drought. Good luck Key-Bar!
