"A Family Tradition for 128 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, April 26,1994 - 3 Thefts not up, many are just being reported now By Kelly Lown Port Perry Star Area residents are concerned over what they describe as a 'rash" of thefts from their homes over the past few weeks, but Durham Regional Police are downplaying the incidents, at- tributing the increase to the time of year. Sergeant Ken Hudson told the Star there has not been a significant increase in thefts, calling it almost "coincidental" that many are being reported to police at the same time. Sergeant Hudson said there has been a rash of thefts report- ed in the past few weeks, but many are from incidents which happened during the winter months. Many people are returning from extended winter vacations and finding their sheds or barns have been broken into and items are missing, he said. "It is just the seasonal return of those on extended vacation," Sgt. Hudson said, noting it is SCOTT ANDERSON / PORT PERRY STAR Port Perry High School's Open House is April 27 at the high school and admission is free with a donation to the local food bank.
