"A Family Tradition for 128 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, August 16, 1994-19 ;, SPORTS Results from all the Port Perry Printingand J & D Carpentry had a terrific game with lots of end-to-end action. The game remained scoreless until the last minutes when Corey Marlow netted one for the Printers, to give them their first win of the season by a 1-0 margin. Charlotte provided su- perb netminding for the Print- ers, to preserve the shutout. Re- beka Dawn Haah and Evan Haslum put in a superhuman effort for J & D, and Stefan Zo- chodne kept them in the game with great saves. Excellent plays were made by Layla Keyes-Renaud and Ryan Harri- son. Haugen's Chicks showed ex- cellent teamwork to come up with a 6-3 victory over Manvers. Scott Partington scored another hat trick, assisted on two by Shayne Taylor and Joshua Vau- ghan. Joshua scored two unas- sisted goals and Rory Taillon added one to the total. Shayne did a good goalkeeping job with the help from good defence by Tommy Whiteway. The tables were turned on the Chicks in their game against the Legion, when despite a five-player ad- vantage -they had to fight to keep the score down to 6-3. They tried to come back in the second half when all three goals were scored. Shayne Taylor scored, assisted by Benjamin Mutton and Scott Partington scored twice, assisted by Neil Harris and Shayne. Laurentian Bank showed a great team effort and passin skill to shut out Second Han for Kids 2-0. Joey Frey played a strong game with Dylan Jones ~ passing the ball to the forwards. Kristen Renaud made several heads up plays. Christopher Barchuk was solid in net, For the Kids, Justin Abraham showed spirited play, while Mi- randa Batterink did good work ° in goal. Under Seven Results A fine effort by both Komput- er Klinic and Brian's Towing earned the teams a 3-3 tie. Brian's goals were scored by Britini Smith, Kirk Stevens and Troy Wagg. A fine defensive game was played by Irene Wat- son, and imberly Wilson played a strong two-way game. The Klinic's markers came from Jonathan Hamelink with two, and Matthew Miller. Port Perry Lions really came together to defeat Lake Scugog Lumber by a big 12-1 margin. Goals were scored by Andrew Pegg (five), Michael Wilson (three), Darren Dekoning (two), Brad Nearly (two), and Jessica Lee (one). Matt Robinson earned goal- keeping honors. Kyle Paige got Lumber's lone marker, and honorable mention goes to Stewart Medford for effort. ~/ life? ~ Yours on August, 24th! Under Nine Results Reach Park Motors won their game by default when Antrim House could field only four players. A fun game was held, with good plays by Leanne Bar- foot and Elissa Beelby. Crosby Hartung showed great style in net. Burketon shut out Raglan thanks to a pair of goals each by Matt Morrison and Alex Hen- derson. Danny Morrison chipped in with two assists, backed up by strong play from Stacy Arnold. Jaimin Gillis sparkled in net for the shutout. Tyler Daley and Matthew Ten- nant putin a good effort for Rag- an. Air Durham also defeated Cottrell's Cuspids 4-0 on a pair of goals each from Derek Gore- ski and Scott Lennox. Tyler Cunningham and Lisa Leskow- icz shared the shutout. Despite the loss the Cuspids played a good game, and Adam Farnley was spectacular in goal. Katie Beirness and Chris Wygerde each scored one for IGA. An exciting seesaw battle be- tween Waterfront Cafe and Wil- lowtree Farms finally ended with the Cafe victorious 4-3. Spencer Churchill notched the hat trick with Nicole Ansell adding the single marker. Spe- cial mention goes to Gabriel Benschop and Peter Konstanti- nopolous for their goalkeeping efforts. Melissa Hale and Katri- na Leahy stopped the Willow- tree advance time and tim again. For Willowtree, Josep Kozlinski scored two goals, and Joe Farquharson added one. Angels win, lose in league action her 14th game this season comes down to the end of the Cheryl Vaughan, who won with four losses, had a single and scored two runs to help her cause. She got help from Tracy Smith who had two hits, Tara Mowder with two hits, single hits to Cathy Da- vis and Kelly Caldwell. The Scugog "Angels" next me is Wednesday night in shawa, against Oshawa Double BBs, and this could be a good one. Game time is 8:30 p.m. at Durham College. ugog Wins Over 4 Bowmanville Cheryl Vaughan won her 13th game this season as she pitched a no-hitter against Bowmanville, while striking out 14 batters. She also helped her cause with six hits. Also helpin in the win were Tara Mowder six hits, five RBIs, Kelly Caldwell | with six hits and three RBIs, Mandee Porter with five hits, all were mammoth as she drovein nine RBIs. With four hits each were Joyce Parkinson, Tracy Smith and Kim Stewart. The | "Angels", with this win, keep their undefeated seqson in- tact. In the first game of a dou- bleheader on Sunday, Oshawa Inter. F.C. defeated Port Perry Scugog Angels Midget team 9-3. This team i8 in fifth place in the stand- ings.
