ay "Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" The Girl Guides in Port Perry District had their registration on Sept. 8. The total number of girls registered this year from Sparks to Pathfinders was 204 with 43 leaders taking on the voluntary roles. We are still in need of someone to help the leader of the 1st Port Perry Pathfinders and for an extra leader of the Island Guides. If you feel that you have a couple of spare hours in your week please give Bev. Dawson a call at 985-8843. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to help young adults and have fun. This year was started off with a Floating Campfire at Palmer Park for all the girls and their CASHABLE Rates subject to change without notice SCUGOG FINANCIAL SERVICES A DIVISION OF CRESSBROOK FINANCIAL PLANNING LTD. 250 QUEEN STREET - PORT PERRY "Serving Scugog for Over 15 Years" PHONE 985-3832 Bodum celebrates its 50th birthday. Al- though the weather was a little cool the spirit of those attending was hot and the girls sang with much gusto and enthusiasm. Our District Commissioner added fuel to the songs as well as to the fire, with her added sound effects of soaked boots. The squelching sound went great with "Going Over the Sea." Cookies and juice topped off the fun. Thanks to all who helped organize the evening. Hopefully it will be an annual event. Look for coverage on Cable 10 this month. Many of the groups have plans for camping and special events again this year and to help with the costs Port Perry District Guides will once again be selling refreshments at the upcoming Craft Sale at the Port Perry High School on Saturday, Oct. 22. Sandwiches, drinks, coffee, butter tarts and pie will be available in the cafeteria. As well there will be babysitting of- fered and supervised by the Pathfinders for a nominal charge in the teacher's lounge. Look for the signs to point the way near the northwest door of the school. Already we have had the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Guides take ad- vantage of the great fall weath- er attending camps at Camp Guide cookies on the way Adamac and Durham Forest and the 5th Brownies held a mother/daughter Pioneer camp as well. The Pathfinders have had a craft night enjoyed by all and are also taking advantage of the upcoming election with a guest speaker Marilyn Pearce. Many enrollments have tak- en place in the Sparks and Brownies and soon in the Guides and Pathfinders. Con- gratulations to those girls in- volved. Enjoy!!! Many of the leaders have at- tended training sessions at Guide House or will be in the near future. At these sessions they learn crafts, ceremony pro- grams, camping techniques, etc. It is great fun as well as work but certainly worth the time and effort taken by these leaders. On behalf of the girls in your units - thank you!! Here's what you've been wait- ing for Port Perry. Starting Nov. 1 the girls will be selling those delicious Mint Chocolate Waffer Cookies that you all liked so much last fall. Girls will soon be at your door with smil- ing faces and cartons of cookies. Remember they make great gifts for Christmas as well as a treat with your coffee, tea or milk. We have ordered twice as many as last year but be ready, itis still first come first served.
